Canadian Natural Resources is seeking an Abandonment & Reclamation Engineering Student for an eight month, full time term in Calgary, onsite, starting January, May, or September 2027. You’ll join the fast paced Development Operations team to plan, execute and optimize well and pipeline abandonment and decommissioning activities while gaining exposure to drilling, completions and facilities. You will work with Wellview, Siteview, Accumap and Tableau to support data acquisition and analysis. The ideal candidate is in the 2nd to 4th year of an engineering program (Chemical, Process, Mechanical, Energy or Petroleum/Oil & Gas preferred), holds a Class 5 Alberta license, and is motivated, organized and collaborative. We are looking for a motivated Engineering Student to join our fast-paced Development Operations team! You will have the exciting opportunity to be part of an active engineering team responsible for the planning, execution and optimization of operations related to well abandonment, pipeline abandonment, and decommissioning activities.   • Work schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off, 8 hours per day (Monday – Friday)
  • Term length: 8 months
  • Term starts: January or May or September 2027

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support an engineering team through data acquisition and analysis for optimization projects, well records reviews, pipeline map reviews, lookback reviews and ongoing operations and engineering support
  • Acquire hands-on experience with several widely used industry software programs including Wellview, Siteview, Accumap and Tableau
  • Gain exposure to all aspects of well, pipeline, and facility operations including drilling, completions, well servicing, well abandonment, pipeline abandonment, and decommissioning

What You Bring to The Role:

  • Currently enrolled in your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of an engineering degree program. (Chemical, Process, Mechanical, Energy, and Petroleum/Oil & Gas disciplines preferred)
  • Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license or equivalent out of province license
  • Motivated, collaborative, organized, and able to manage competing priorities
