Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care is seeking a full-time Activation Worker in Mississauga to plan and deliver daily activation, recreational and social programs for residents under the Activation Manager, with a resident-centered approach to boost quality of life. Key qualifications include a diploma in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Therapeutic Recreation, kinesiology, or equivalent, plus experience in LTC or social services; proven ability to design engaging programs on a tight budget; excellent customer service and initiative; computer literacy with Chinese word processing a plus; current CPR and Food Handler certificates; satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen; and bilingual English and Chinese. Under the supervision of the Activation Manager, the Activation Worker plans and conducts daily activation, recreational and social programs for residents of the LTC Home that reflects the organization's resident centred approach to improve and maintain the residents' quality of life in the Home.

Qualifications:

• Diploma in Recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or equivalent

• Experience in a social services or long-term care setting an asset

• Experience and skills in facilitating activation and therapeutic recreation programs, preferably working with the geriatric population

• Creativity and innovativeness in developing meaningful programs for clients within a tight budget

• Superb customer service skills. Demonstrated initiative to support the clients and team in a positive and efficient manner.

• Computer literacy.  Knowledge of Chinese word processing, an asset

• Current CPR Certificate

• Current Food Handler Safety Certificate

• Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen

• Ability to communicate in English and Chinese

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

• Some lifting and transfer

• Occasional travel within the Greater Toronto Area

• Use of own Vehicle
