This role helps LLM students develop essential research, writing, and citation skills through in‑person instruction with distance learning options when appropriate. Responsibilities include designing a syllabus, selecting materials, creating assessments, using Canvas, providing timely feedback, holding office hours, tracking attendance, and grading under college policies. Requirements: JD from an ABA‑accredited law school, five years post JD (exceptions possible for co‑teaching), strong communication and professional demeanor, and alignment with the college’s values. The University of Cincinnati College of Law, an ABA-accredited law school, seeks lawyers and judges to teach a Legal Research and Writing for LLM Students course to LLM students on a part-time basis during Fall 2026. This course is designed to meet the needs of LLM students who received their legal education in a foreign country. This course will introduce students to basic research skills, persuasion strategies, and fundamentals of written communication needed in both law school and professional practice as a lawyer. Students will learn how to respond to a legal problem by identifying the legal issue, researching the law, interpreting and applying legal materials, and then communicating their own legal analysis and conclusions in writing. Emphasis is given to basic writing skills including, among others, legal analysis, style, and citations. The course will prepare students to successfully prepare basic legal documents such as legal memoranda and briefs.
The law school’s adjunct faculty, drawn from the region’s most distinguished jurists and practitioners, offers a wealth of practical experience and special expertise to our students. The law school uses adjuncts to enrich the curriculum with specialized courses, unique perspectives, and more choices than we might otherwise offer. With adjunct faculty, students can experience different pedagogical approaches and gain access to leading practitioners and judges. Adjunct faculty are also valuable in teaching about newly emerging or rapidly changing areas of law. Adjunct professors are part-time, non-tenure/tenure track employees who teach specific courses during specific semesters as agreed.
