In the supplier quality lab: daily work you’ll own

Your days will center on supporting the Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) team with routine quality-management tasks for purchased materials and suppliers. You’ll help develop and refine supplier quality programs and plans aimed at reducing incoming inspections without compromising product quality. You’ll also take part in supplier audits and assist in managing supplier control charts and COA data to spot trends or non-compliance, while verifying material defects with microscopes and measurement tools to ensure parts meet drawing specifications. In addition, you’ll help organize and archive supplier documentation and quality deliverables for accuracy and completeness, keep system tools up to date, and capture defect data to shape acceptance criteria for incoming inspections. The role invites collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to support product development and production, and you’ll contribute to managing supplier quality metrics, specifications, and procedures.

Advice for applicants you can use

Your resume should lead with your engineering program and school, and if your GPA meets the threshold, put that detail up front so it’s easy to verify your eligibility.

Demonstrate you can apply the must-have skills by citing a coursework, project, or internship where you used SPC concepts and touched on supplier quality or defect analysis, with a concrete outcome you can quantify or describe clearly.

Be ready to talk about a time you collaborated across teams to solve a quality issue, how you organized data to define acceptance criteria, and what the result was for the project or process you supported.

Ask a targeted question about the internship’s deliverables and how the final presentation to business leaders is structured, for example: what does a successful final presentation look like and who will review it?
