Responsible for ensuring the functional integrity and readiness of anesthesia equipment through routine checks and coordination with biomedical engineers. Manages daily workload allocation, prioritizes caseloads, and oversees inventory of supplies and equipment. Provides technical support during anesthesia procedures, including preparation of the environment, assistance with airway management, and administration of anesthesia under supervision. Promotes quality and safety by adhering to infection control protocols, maintaining patient confidentiality, and supporting clinical audits and continuous improvement initiatives. Actively participates in educational programs, maintains professional competencies, and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.
Managerial Assisting in establishing, maintaining and recording the functional integrity of all anesthesia equipment including, but not limited to routine daily, weekly and monthly checks as well as routine inspection by biomedical engineer and maintenance for these items such as Anesthesia machines, Infusion pumps and Airway equipment .
Being involved in the daily management of workload allocation within the specialist area, taking into account the changing/competing demands and making decisions about prioritization of caseloads
Coordinating sufficient inventory of material supplies and equipment for performance of duties
Reporting shortage of materials to supervisor at earliest convenience, ordering and approving replenishments when necessary
Assisting in assessing and ordering appropriate materials/equipment following discussion with senior staff
Technical Assisting in preparing and re - preparing the anesthesia environment which includes all anesthesia equipment and material, on a daily basis for any anesthesia procedures
Providing assistance to the anesthisiologist as required with difficult airway management and invasive monitoring
Under the direct supervision and prescription of the anesthesiologist, preparing and administering anesthesia medication
Coordinating other appropriate tasks and duties, when requested by the supervisor
Assisting the anesthesiologist in the induction and maintenance, including monitoring of the patient and regional anesthesia
Quality & Safety Promoting and maintaining quality in all services and ensure continuous quality improvement measures are in place. Conduct method evaluation/development as per standard policies and procedures
Ensuring compliance with all safety and quality control programs and procedures as applicable
Ensuring compliance with applicable precautions for environmental safety, infection control, using a series of interventions that minimize or prevent cross infection
Maintaining and assisting in enforcing the strictest confidence in relation to patient information whether formally or informally recorded
Complying and ensuring that those directly supervised comply with occupational health and safety at work policies and procedures
Practicing within the expressed limits of established policies and procedures
Ensuring that SOP (standard operation procedures) and Quality Assurance tests are maintained within all sections
Being responsible for documenting all intervention in appropriate format
Assisting in the development of clinical audit processes within the service and report on these as agreed. Supporting the promotion of audit and research programs on service implementation, in line with national policy, statutory requirements and service requirements within the facility
Communicating in a professional and courteous manner with patients, family and other medical personnel as necessary to obtain information for laboratory records, explain procedures, clarify orders and communicate status
Education Participating in department programs/committees, various hospital committees, and staff meetings
Ensuring appropriate internal and external sharing of information based on governing policies and procedures
Maintaining professional knowledge by attending lectures, seminars or on-line education units
Completing and maintaining all regulatory requirements including: licensure and certification and other mandatory training within established time frames
