FOSSA is hiring an Applied AI Software Engineer for a full-time onsite role in Toronto, joining a fast moving distributed R&D team building the next generation of the open source software supply chain platform using static analysis, deterministic algorithms and LLMs. You’ll own high impact features from concept to production, primarily in TypeScript with exposure to Rust, Haskell or Go, and contribute to multi language analysis for customers. The ideal candidate has 6+ years as a backend or fullstack engineer, experience shipping SaaS at high velocity, strong SQL and hands on with LLM APIs. To apply, highlight greenfield wins, prototypes that reached production, collaboration with R&D and product, and a metrics driven impact story showing growth mindset and comfort with distributed work.
If you’re like us, you agree that open source software is a wonderful and unique gift that the community of software developers across the world have given to each other. At FOSSA, we want to proliferate its usage with our software supply chain management platform that helps our customers know what licenses, vulnerabilities, and dependencies go into their software as they utilize open source software packages. And we won’t rest until all companies, big and small, love and feel as comfortable with using open source as we are.
FOSSA is a rapidly growing series-B company with a truly distributed team. While our roots are in San Francisco, our growing team has members in several countries across many time zones. We’re always working to find the perfect balance of effective approaches to distributed work, while maintaining the direct personal connections that help us work better together and love our jobs.
As an applied AI software engineer on our team, you'll be working on researching, designing, prototyping, and implementing our next generation of software at FOSSA. While still working closely with the entire Engineering and Product departments, the R&D team focuses on more experimental software development that will define the future of our company. Our current focus is around using a combination of static analysis, deterministic algorithms, along with LLM interactions, to provide our users with reliable, time-saving, and automated solutions to keeping their projects and the dependencies they use as healthy as possible The R&D team follows a lightweight process that lets the team move fast and learn from experiments quickly. Come help us create the future of FOSSA!
