Davey Tree Expert Company of Canada is seeking an Arborist Apprentice in Maidstone, Ontario for full-time, year-round, on-site work. You will gain exposure to all aspects of the Arborist role while supporting experienced crew members and keeping sites clean, safe, and organized; Davey also supports the pathway to becoming a Certified Arborist. Day-to-day duties include controlling lowering ropes, supplying tools aloft, traffic control, equipment maintenance, cutting and loading brush, and helping teammates. Ideal candidates hold a valid Ontario driver's license, have arboriculture experience, can lift 50 lbs, and are eager to learn and progress. Compensation ranges $20-$25/hour with comprehensive benefits, RRSP/TFSA, stock purchase after six months, and ongoing training.

Position Overview
As an Arborist Apprentice with Davey Tree, you will begin to gain exposure on all aspects of the Arborist role. You will spend your day in the field supporting Arborists all while ensuring a clean, safe, and organized site. In time Davey Tree would look to support the apprentice in becoming a Certified Arborist.
Job Duties
- Control lowering ropes.
- Supply tools for tree workers aloft.
- Control road and sidewalk traffic as needed by use of warning devices.
- Perform daily, weekly and monthly maintenance inspections on equipment.
- Cut, chip and load brush and wood.
- Complete proper job site cleanup.
- Assist other crew members in performing job duties.
- Abide by Davey and industry safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Valid provincial driver’s license. Licensed to drive a 5-ton vehicle and air brake endorsement considered an asset.
- Previous arboriculture/horticulture experience.
- Willingness to work towards becoming a certified Arborist.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
- Ability to work safely as part of a team and possess the willingness to learn and progress.
Additional Information
- Full time. Year-round employment.
- $20-$25/hour. Wage will be determined based on education, experience, and relevant qualifications or certifications.
