The Weir Group PLC is hiring for an Area Manager to cover the South West region. This full-time, hybrid role sits in Perth, with responsibilities centered on partnering with key customers and driving aftermarket sales for Weir Minerals equipment. The company is a global leader in mining technology, focused on helping mines operate more efficiently and sustainably as the world moves toward renewable energy. The role is well suited to someone who enjoys a blend of field work, relationship building and technical problem solving.

Based in Perth with a footprint that includes the Hazelmere area, the position serves clients across the South West of Perth. The arrangement blends office and on-site work, with travel to customer sites a regular part of the job. It's a good fit for someone who thrives when they can combine strategic thinking with hands-on interaction in the field.

You’ll find purpose in helping customers deliver more sustainable operations while supporting a global team that values safety and cross-functional collaboration. If you like meeting customers, solving practical challenges, and growing aftermarket business in a technical space, this could be a strong match.

In the field: building strong customer relationships

You’ll act as the main point of contact for important accounts, including major players like Talison and South32, keeping relationships healthy through regular site visits (about once a week) and prompt communication. The job centers on growing aftermarket sales of Weir Minerals equipment and aligning solutions with what customers need to achieve their targets.

Collaboration is key. You’ll work closely with internal teams such as Product Managers and Service Specialists to resolve supply, quality and delivery issues, aiming to sustain top-tier service levels. You’ll also keep a pulse on the market, using gap analysis to spot opportunities for market share gains while staying up to date on industry processes and the actions of competitors.

Applying your product knowledge will matter as well. You’ll learn and apply detailed information about Weir’s portfolio, especially slurry pumps and related equipment, to support customer operations and troubleshooting. Travel to customer sites across the South West Perth region is a regular part of the role, with occasional overnight stays when business needs arise. Above all, safety is non-negotiable as you help foster a world-class safety culture.

What it takes to win this area

Must-haves: three or more years of sales experience in minerals processing, heavy industry, or a closely related technical sales environment; proven ability to build rapport and manage large accounts with strong customer-facing skills; and a technical background in mechanical equipment, engineering, or mineral processing, with a trade certificate or degree viewed as a plus.

Nice-to-haves: experience doing aftermarket sales and service support for heavy equipment such as pumps and centrifuges; knowledge of lithium processing or bauxite/aluminium operations; familiarity with CRM tools and preventative maintenance planning; and a track record of working well with cross-functional teams and internal stakeholders.

Compensation, perks and the practical bits

The role offers competitive pay and a benefits package that includes career development and learning support, access to global inclusion networks, regional and team-specific benefits, a sharebuilder scheme, wellness support for you and your family, collaboration with global teams, and study support. The position is hybrid, based in Perth with regular travel to customer sites within the South West Perth region and occasional overnight stays as needed. Location details place you in Perth, including the Hazelmere area, in the South West of the city.

Guidance for your application

Lead with your relevant sales experience, opening your resume with at least three years in minerals processing or a related technical sales field, and highlight any involvement with major accounts exemplified by clients like Talison or South32.

Show how you prove the must-haves by sharing concrete examples of managing large accounts and sustaining relationships, plus any technical background in mechanical equipment or engineering. Tie in experiences with aftermarket sales if you have them, and detail how you’ve collaborated with Product Managers or Service Specialists to navigate supply, quality or delivery challenges.

Prepare to discuss how you approach market analysis and strategy, including any GAP analysis or similar assessments you’ve conducted to identify opportunities and close gaps against competitors. Be ready to talk about your product knowledge, especially around slurry pumps or related equipment, and your ability to troubleshoot alongside customers.

Smart question to ask: how does the team measure aftermarket growth in the South West region, and what role does this Area Manager play in coordinating with Product Management and Service to capture new opportunities?
