As an Area Shift Leader – PCBA, you oversee production operations during assigned shifts, ensuring that output, quality, and safety targets are consistently met. You lead a team of operators across both SMT and back-end assembly processes, applying hands-on expertise in PCBA manufacturing. Experience with equipment such as pick and place machines, solder paste inspection (SPI), screen printers, automated optical inspection (AOI), and back-end operations including manual assembly, wave soldering, and functional testing is a strong advantage.S/he will lead and coordinate operations within a designated area of the PCBA line during assigned shifts, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. Provide support to the Shift Leader and offer guidance to frontline team members to promote a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
What you’ll do:
- Oversee and coordinate production activities across multiple SMT and THT PCBA assembly lines or zones within the assigned area to ensure the full production plan is achieved.
- Maintain smooth and balanced production flow from SMT, THT, testing, inspection, packing, preventing bottlenecks and work‑in‑process buildup.
- Optimize manpower deployment, material readiness, and equipment utilization across multiple SMT and THT lines and zones. to ensure production schedules and output targets are achieved.
- Ensure consistent implementation of ECO/MCO changes across both SMT and THT.
- Enforce compliance with IPC‑A‑610 workmanship standards and company quality requirements across all zones.
- Provide leadership and operational guidance to operators to achieve area-level performance targets (OEE, FPY, delivery).
- Conduct area-level shift handovers, communicate priorities, known issues, and downstream impacts clearly to incoming teams and other departments.
- Conduct regularly Layer Process audit, to assess operator expertise level, and define improvement plan.
- Maintain accurate area production documentation, including performance dashboards, MES data, shift reports, and key metrics.
- Resolve escalated production issues that involve multiple lines or zones, coordinate fast support from Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams.
- Drive operator engagement and promote a culture of accountability through coaching, recognition, and constructive feedback.
- Support sustainability and operational efficiency goals by reducing waste, optimizing consumable usage, and improving resource consumption across the area.
- Utilize digital dashboards, traceability systems, and analytics tools (MES, OEE, yield charts) to monitor performance, identify issues, and drive improvement actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams,including Engineering, Shift Leader, Quality, Logistics, and Planning to ensure stable operations and rapid resolution of cross-area challenges.
- Enforce ESD controls, safety rules, IPC workmanship standards, and EATON MESH requirements.
- Drive and support continuous improvement initiatives (5S, Lean, Kaizen,) to enhance productivity and quality.
Qualifications:
- Technical Diploma or Vocational Certificate in Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in PCB assembly or electronics manufacturing
Skills:
- Prior experience as a senior operator, line leader, or technician with informal leadership responsibilities is a strong advantage.
- Hands-on experience with SMT machines for setup, operation, and basic troubleshooting. Panasonic SMT machines (e.g., NPM, CM series) is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with SMT and THT processes, including reflow soldering, Automated Optical Inspection (AOI), and basic troubleshooting.
- Understanding of IPC-A-610 standards and ESD safety practices.
- Basic knowledge of production documentation, work instructions, and quality checks.
- Problem-Solving: You’re resourceful, analytical, and calm under pressure always ready to find solutions.
