Gain valuable experience as a student for our Asset Recovery group. Asset Recovery involves the end-to-end management of surplus equipment and materials. In this role, you will drive asset optimization by facilitating internal equipment redeployment and enabling external sales. Since asset recovery touches every aspect of the business, you will develop a broad understanding of the company’s operations and geographical areas.

  • Job location: Calgary, AB – Head Office (mostly)
  • Shift schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off, 8 hours/day (Monday – Friday)
  • Term length: 4 months
  • Term start: January 2027

Key Accountabilities:

  • Gain foundational knowledge of oil and gas equipment used across the business
  • Learn about Canada’s oil and gas industry and Canadian Natural’s operations (thermal, conventional, and oil sands)
  • Help identify surplus equipment and materials and find opportunities to create value from unused assets
  • Assist in matching available equipment with upcoming project needs
  • Build relationships with external buyers and brokers to support asset sales
  • Execute transfers and sales while ensuring compliance, logistics coordination, and reporting accuracy
  • Contribute to presentations, documentation updates, research, and other ad hoc projects

What You Bring to The Role:

  • Currently enrolled in your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of an undergraduate degree with a focus in Business, Commerce, Sales, Oil and Gas or a related field
  • Demonstrated sales skills (especially lead generation and negotiation)
  • Customer service experience
  • Ability to influence others to move the sales opportunity forward
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Highly organized and efficient
  • Skilled at communicating, interacting, and relating with others
  • Knowledge of oil and gas or industrial equipment will be considered an asset
