Assistant Accountant

Fully Remote, Permanent, Full-Time

We're looking for a skilled and proactive Assistant Accountant to join our head office team, reporting to the Financial Controller and providing crucial support to our Finance team. This is a permanent, full-time position, working fully remotely from anywhere in Australia, with the possible occasional requirement to attend in-person meetings. The remuneration package will be commensurate with experience.

About the Role

In this role, you'll play a vital part in supporting our financial operations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing general accounting tasks, banking transactions, and monthly bank reconciliations
  • Completing month-end tasks, including reports, journals, reconciliations, and other deliverables
  • Investigating and resolving account discrepancies
  • Adhering to accounting standards and internal policies and procedures
  • Reviewing and assisting with fortnightly payroll processing across a multi-site workforce
  • Accounts receivable management and assisting the Accounts Payable team
  • Building and managing relationships with external stakeholders such as auditors, financial institutions, and other partners
  • Providing guidance and support to finance team members as well as the broader business
  • Assisting with the implementation of new systems
  • Completing additional tasks and analysis as required

About You

We're looking for someone with a strong accounting foundation and a drive to contribute to a high-performing team. Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance is required
  • Three or more years' experience in an Assistant Accountant role, with the ability to meet strict reporting deadlines
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with accounting systems; experience with NetSuite is a plus
  • Experience with Employment Hero Payroll/Keypay software is highly regarded
  • A sound working knowledge of Accounting Standards related to account preparation and financial disclosures
  • The ability to learn and adapt to new systems quickly
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • The ability to work autonomously and prioritise tasks effectively
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
