We are seeking an outstanding leader and exemplary classroom practitioner to join Yasmina British Academy. This role carries whole-school responsibilities (FS1–Year 13) with a specific focus on raising standards in Ministry of Education subjects.
Applications are welcomed from leaders across all phases, cycles, or subject specialisms. This position is not ring-fenced to leaders within Arabic, Islamic Studies, or Social Studies and is open to candidates from all subject backgrounds.
Main Duties
- Lead the academy in achieving its overall vision and strategic intentions and to contribute to the achievement of relevant targets as set out in the improvement plan and academy self-evaluation.
- Lead strategic direction and development of key areas of the academy, including but not limited to student development, developing innovative curriculum, improvement planning, target setting and ongoing self-evaluation.
- Play a lead role in developing key policies and practices that support the overall aims, vision, and values of the academy.
- To monitor the impact of relevant policies and practices.
- Create a culture of high aspirations and measure the impact of this.
- Lead and manage staff, including but not limited to overseeing recruitment, performance and professional development.
- Lead on the marketing of key aspects of the academy, raise the profile, increase student enrolment, and ensure positive feedback from stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively and proactively with all stakeholders.
- To be an active member of the Senior Leadership Team and other staff teams as appropriate.
- To assist the Senior leadership team in shaping the direction of the academy and setting high expectations at all times.
- To promote teamwork and motivate staff to ensure positive and effective working relationships and high standards.
- To liaise with Aldar Education to support the strategic development of the academy.
- To deputise in the absence of the Secondary or Primary Principal or as required.
- To undertake any additional responsibilities as delegated by the school Principals.
- To take responsibility for own ongoing professional development and performance in line with key performance indicators.
- To lead on and develop the vision and culture across Ministry of Education subjects, which falls in line with whole academy expectations.
- To lead on the whole school National Identity culture and strategy, raising standards and integration across the wider curriculum and community.
- To develop curriculum strategy to ensure wholistic future focused learning and high standards for all.
- To ensure the academy policies promote effective relationships and compliment the intended culture.
- To lead on key performance standards as directed, ensuring all students thrive.
- To develop stakeholder voice and utilise this to create impact across whole school strategy.
- To lead on key areas of the SEF and SDP ensuring key improvement priorities are identified and actioned based on current research and evidence.
- To lead and oversee the MER and quality assurance processes and present an accurate and coherent account of academy performance in relation to key performance standards to a range of audiences including governors and parents.
- To effectively lead the academy through external review and inspection in key performance standards.
- To promote positive relationships within and outside the academy to ensure a cohesive school community, including but not limited to developing parent partnerships, working with external agencies or businesses.
- To set the strategic direction for Middle Leaders to ensure all students are academically challenged and supported to thrive within the academy.
- To work with the senior leadership team to provide quality provision that supports the whole child and ensures outstanding progress and attainment for all.
- To provide strategic direction and line manage agreed middle leaders to ensure that the academy exceeds the expectations of students, parents, and other stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor Degree in Education or B.Sc degree with PGCE is essential. Desirable Master’s degree.
• At least 6 years’ experience, including 4 consecutive years teaching performance exceeds standards and expectations as evidenced by performance appraisal
• At least 2 years’ experience in middle leadership role
• Experience of leading school initiatives that have led to improvement in standards and achievement.
• Experience working with parents and external agencies.
