Aldar Education is seeking an outstanding Assistant Principal-Assessment and Curriculum (Secondary) to join Muna British Academy in Abu Dhabi, commencing in August 2026.

Job Purpose:
- Providing strategic leadership for the design, implementation and evaluation of the Academy’s secondary curriculum, assessment and reporting framework.
- Lead compliance processes linked to curriculum, assessment and inspection readiness across the secondary phase.
- Engaging with parents, students, and the broader school community to foster a culture of academic excellence.
- To contribute to the development of policy and planning for the Academy and to monitor the implementation of relevant policies.
- To assist the Principal and Head of Secondary in shaping the direction of the Academy and setting high expectations at all times.
- To liaise with senior colleagues at Aldar Education to support the strategic development of the Academy.
- To deputise in the absence of the Head of Secondary.
- To undertake any additional responsibilities as delegated by the Head of Secondary.
Strategic Leadership and Growth
- Lead the development of the SEF and SDP with particular responsibility for ADEK Performance Standards 3 and 4.
- Advising on school-wide strategic planning initiatives related to data, assessment, and curriculum.
- Leading and developing the Secondary school USP and academic vision.
- To promote relationships within and outside the Academy to enhance the community.
- Lead recruitment for secondary teaching and middle leadership posts in collaboration with the Head of Secondary.
- To line manage Heads of Department in line with school expectations.
- To effectively lead the school through external review and inspection.
- Lead the development and implementation of KS4 and KS5 pathways in collaboration with the Head of Secondary.
- Leading on long-term curriculum vision from Year 7 to Year 13.
- To support with staffing model planning linked to curriculum growth.
Curriculum:
- Ensure full compliance with ADEK, MOE and awarding body curriculum requirements across the secondary phase.
- Leading the review and refinement of curriculum frameworks to enhance student engagement and achievement.
- Leading professional development initiatives on curriculum design.
- Monitoring and evaluating the impact of curriculum changes on student outcomes.
- Ensuring alignment between Primary and Secondary curricula to support a seamless transition for students.
- Leading parent workshops on curriculum, assessment and pathways.
- Ensure clear communication to students and parents around reporting, examinations and option pathways.
- Supporting transition from primary to secondary and into KS4.
Assessment and Reporting:
- Design and implementation of a coherent whole-school assessment policy in line with ADEK expectations and best practice in UK curriculum schools.
- Develop and implement internal and external moderation systems across departments and across specific key stages.
- Lead reporting processes to parents in line with ADEK expectations.
- Use of GL, CAT4 and other baseline data to inform progress measures
- Oversight of exam readiness and results analysis including GCSE and post-16 outcomes where applicable.
- Overseeing International Benchmark testing and internal assessments to ensure data integrity and meaningful use.
- Overseeing the effective use of iSAMS for reporting, data tracking and timetable management.
- Supporting on ESIS data termly for ADEK.
- Leading on data collection for Aldar HQ.
- Collaborating with all departments to set and achieve academic performance targets.
- Providing leadership in the use of formative and summative assessments to track student progress and inform instruction.
- Identifying and implementing intervention strategies for students requiring additional academic support.
- Leading professional development initiatives on assessment.
- Analysing student performance data to inform instructional strategies and improve learning outcomes.
- To develop and present an accurate and coherent account of the Academy's performance to a range of audiences including governors and parents.
- To collate and analyse the school Data Dashboard reporting termly on Secondary data and outcomes, tracking cohorts including SEND, EAL, high attaining and Emirati students.
- Coaching teachers in data-driven decision-making to personalise learning experiences.
Learning and Teaching:
- Lead and model a culture of high quality teaching through regular learning walks, coaching and feedback systems.
- Lead the secondary teaching and learning strategy aligned to curriculum intent.
- Ensuring consistency in pedagogical approaches across departments.
- Embedding adaptive teaching and support for diverse learners.
- Working closely with inclusion and EAL teams so curriculum and assessment are accessible.
- Leading professional learning communities or instructional coaching.
- Use of technology in curriculum and assessment to enhance teaching, assessment and reporting efficiency.
Managing Resources:
- Support with CAT4/admission and transfers for new students.
- Provide strategic oversight of curriculum-linked trips and visits.
- Oversee assessment and data-related budget lines.
- Contribute to whole-school staffing and curriculum budget planning.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- To lead ELT presentations as required.
- Champion inclusion, equity and UAE national identity across the secondary curriculum.
- To fulfil teaching responsibilities as and when needed to support the education team, a reduced timetable if applicable.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education or B.Sc. degree with PGCE is essential. Desirable Master's degree
Minimum Experience:
- At least 6 years' experience, including 4 consecutive years teaching performance exceeds standards and expectations as evidenced by performance appraisal
- At least 2 years' experience in middle leadership role
- Experience of leading school initiatives that have led to improvement in standards and achievement.
- Experience working with parents and external agencies.
