Job Description

Job Summary:

The Assistant Resident Engineer – Mechanical is responsible for supporting the Resident Engineer in supervising all mechanical works within the infrastructure scope of a villa’s construction project. This includes overseeing the execution of HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, and related mechanical systems in compliance with project specifications, relevant codes, and authority requirements. The role involves site supervision, quality control, technical coordination, inspection, and reporting to ensure timely and compliant delivery of mechanical systems integrated within villas and associated infrastructure.

Key Job Duties:

• Site Supervision & Quality Control:

  • Assist the Resident Engineer in supervising the installation of mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire fighting networks within villas and associated infrastructure.
  • Conduct regular inspections to verify mechanical works are executed in line with design drawings, specifications, and project quality standards.
  • Monitor contractor performance and workmanship to ensure conformance with approved method statements and quality benchmarks.

• Technical Support & Coordination:

  • Provide technical support during installation and commissioning of mechanical systems.
  • Coordinate with electrical, civil, and architectural teams to ensure proper interfacing of mechanical services.
  • Assist in resolving technical issues related to mechanical works raised during execution.

• Inspection & Testing:

  • Supervise mechanical inspections, pressure tests, and functional tests for mechanical systems.
  • Ensure all mechanical works undergo proper pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures as per contract and authority requirements.
  • Coordinate third-party testing and certification processes where required.

• Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of mechanical works progress, inspection checklists, material approvals, and non-conformance reports.
  • Assist in preparing weekly and monthly reports related to mechanical activities for submission to the Resident Engineer and project management.
  • Document and escalate any issues or deviations that may impact safety, quality, or project timelines.

• Health & Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure all mechanical construction activities are conducted in compliance with safety procedures and project HSE plan.
  • Participate in safety audits, toolbox talks, and ensure proper PPE usage and permit-to-work adherence for mechanical works.

• Submittal Reviews & Approvals:

  • Review and provide input on mechanical shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and as-built drawings.
  • Confirm that submittals are in accordance with specifications, regulatory codes, and project requirements before submission for approval.

• Schedule & Progress Monitoring:

  • Assist in monitoring the progress of mechanical works to ensure alignment with the overall project schedule.
  • Identify and report potential delays or interface conflicts with other trades, supporting the development of mitigation plans.

• Stakeholder & Contractor Communication:

  • Liaise with contractors, vendors, and utility authorities for smooth execution of mechanical-related activities.
  • Facilitate technical discussions and site coordination meetings to ensure alignment among all project stakeholders.

• Project Documentation Management:

  • Ensure mechanical-related documentation is accurately filed, updated, and available for review during inspections or audits.
  • Track the status of approvals, permits, and test certificates required for mechanical installations.

• Authority & Code Compliance:

  • Support in ensuring mechanical works comply with relevant codes (e.g., NFPA, ASHRAE, IPC) and local authority requirements (e.g., Civil Defence, ADM).
  • Assist with coordination and documentation required for final inspections and NOCs from relevant regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with 15+ years of experience in Construction Supervision and Management, including roles as Senior Engineer or Assistant Resident Engineer.
  • Proven track record managing complex sewer system projects, with in-depth knowledge of relevant codes and regulations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality in all aspects of work.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license is highly desirable.
