The Associate Category Development Manager - Walmart role will lead the integration of physical and digital category strategies for Walmart by leveraging the Scintilla platform along with available external data (e.g. Numerator, Nielsen, etc.) to provide a unified view of the shopper journey. This role requires an entrepreneurial mindset to proactively dig into data, identify business issues, uncover drivers of change and connect multiple data sources to provide a clear, simple story. This role demands high energy, assertive management skills, an aptitude to resolve complex problems, an understanding of market dynamics and ability to employ good decision making. You also require a solid understanding of Category Management processes and practices to collaborate with customers and internal teams in the areas of effective product assortment, shelf merchandising, as well as promotional recommendations.
** This role is based out of our Toronto office, where you are expected to work 4x/week (Monday - Thursday). **
Responsibilities:
1. Scintilla-Driven Insights & Data Activation
Scintilla Champion: Act as the lead for integrating Scintilla’s various modules (e.g., Digital Landscapes & Shopper Behavior) and connecting them with other specific Scintilla tools to uncover opportunities that drive overall omni category growth.
Digital Shelf Discovery: Leverage a deep understanding of digital landscapes to discover unique insights on the digital shelf and translate them into actionable opportunities for both in-store and online business.
Data Integration: Leverage Walmart-specific data (Scintilla) and syndicated data (Nielsen/Numerator) to create a single, actionable view of the category.
Strategic Narratives: Translate complex insights into clear category narratives and recommendations regarding assortment, pricing, and promotions tailored to the Walmart ecosystem.
2. Strategic Advisor & Partnership
Capability Partner: Act as a trusted advisor to Walmart’s Category and Omni teams, working as a strategic partner.
As a trusted category advisor, complete WM weekly reports, projects and ad-hoc requests as required by the WM buyer. Complete modular review process leveraging category analysis, shopper insights and available analytic tools.
Continuously monitor competitive retailer trends, category changes and provide buyers with value add insights.
Deliver best in class presentations that highlight category growth opportunities, risks and potential challenges.
Influence Walmart decisions on category roles, space, and modular changes by presenting a total-business view.
Evaluate share of shelf & BIC POG principles to uncover opportunities to drive planogram recommendations
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
5+ years experience in consumer packaged goods or other relevant sales/data/marketing experience
2+ years of Category Management experience, using syndicated service (Nielsen, Retail Link, Scintilla, Numerator, Promo Intel, etc.), intermediate use of Nielsen
Proficient in JDA Space Planning/Blue Yonder and planogram development, proficient with Google environment (sheets, slides, doc, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
Walmart experience in sales or advisor capacity
Compensation
Salary Range $105,300.00 - $122,850.00 CAD per year
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to experience, education, skills and work or office location. In addition to your salary, Colgate-Palmolive Canada Inc. / Hill’s Pet Nutrition Canada Inc. offers a performance based bonus and competitive benefits package.
