Critical Mass is hiring an Associate Designer in Calgary for a full-time onsite role, part of a junior talent program with mentorship and client work. You will translate strategy into visual concepts, design digital assets for websites, maintain sites, craft layouts and banners, ensure quality, and foster team collaboration. To stand out, curate a portfolio showing visual, interactive and graphic prowess, big-idea thinking, and clear articulation of concepts with solid information architecture. Nice-to-haves include UX, motion graphics, and proficiency with Figma, Photoshop, XD, or Sketch. As an Associate Designer, you are excited to contribute to the development of creative concepts that translate visually. You Will: 

• Work with a mentor to design solutions that meet or exceed strategic objectives 
• Create and update digital assets for websites, product pages, and other online channels.
• Support ongoing website maintenance and content updates.
• Design layouts, banners, graphics, and visual elements that align with brand guidelines.
• Provide quality assurance on creative deliverables.
• Build and maintain a team rapport with entire multidisciplinary project team.

You Have: 

• Strong design portfolio that demonstrates solid visual, interactive and graphic design skills. 
• Comfortability brainstorming and contributing to bigger ideas 
• Ability to articulate creative ideas 
• Proven aptitude for quick creative thinking with acute attention to detail 
• Understanding of information architecture and hierarchy 
• Comprehensive understanding of interactivity and the web 
• Passion for design and eagerness to collaborate with other creative people 

Nice-to-haves:

• Post-secondary education, certification, or experience in a related field preferred 
• Experience using standard design tools, such as Figma, PhotoShop, Adobe XD, or Sketch
• Experience with digital design, including UX
• Motion graphics experience for the Web and video
