An experienced Associate is needed to join WSP’s Roads & Highways team onsite in Abu Dhabi, leading design delivery of roads and highways packages for large scale infrastructure and land development. This senior technical role requires 15+ years in roads and highways design, extensive Abu Dhabi project experience, and a proven ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams across utilities, drainage, traffic, structures to deliver integrated, compliant designs. You will engage clients and Abu Dhabi authorities, manage design interfaces, support programmes and bids, and mentor others. We are seeking an experienced Associate to join our Roads & Highways team in Abu Dhabi. This role sits at a senior technical level and will be responsible for leading the design delivery of complex roads and highways packages for large-scale infrastructure and land development projects across the Emirate.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, extensive experience on Abu Dhabi projects, and a proven ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams to deliver fully integrated and compliant design solutions.

Technical Design Leadership

• Lead the planning and detailed design of roads and highways infrastructure, including arterial roads, local roads, interchanges, junctions, and access roads.
• Ensure all designs comply with Abu Dhabi authority standards, manuals, specifications, and international best practice.
• Review and approve technical deliverables, drawings, reports, and design calculations to ensure quality and consistency.

Project Delivery & Multidisciplinary Coordination

• Coordinate closely with internal and external disciplines including utilities, drainage, traffic, structures, street lighting, landscaping, and public realm.
• Manage design interfaces and resolve technical conflicts to ensure fully coordinated, buildable solutions.
• Support project managers in meeting programme, quality, and delivery milestones.

Client & Authority Engagement

• Participate in technical meetings, design reviews, and coordination sessions with Clients and Abu Dhabi authorities.
• Support authority submissions and approvals, ensuring timely responses to comments and compliance with requirements.
• Provide technical advice to Clients on design development, constructability, and risk mitigation.

Commercial & Operational Support

• Assist in resource planning, task allocation, and technical input to project programmes.
• Support bid preparation, fee proposals, and technical submissions for roads and highways projects.
• Contribute to improving internal design processes, standards, and best practices.

Leadership & Mentoring

• Provide guidance and mentoring to engineers and senior engineers within the Roads & Highways team.
• Support capability development and knowledge sharing across the discipline.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
• 15+ years of professional experience in roads and highways design.
• Extensive experience delivering Abu Dhabi-based infrastructure and land development projects.
• Strong understanding of Abu Dhabi authority standards, approval processes, and regulatory requirements.
• Proven experience coordinating and managing multi-disciplinary design teams.
• Ability to lead technical delivery packages with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
