We are seeking a highly experienced Associate – Water (Hydrology) to join our Transport & Infrastructure business unit in Abu Dhabi. This leadership role will focus on the delivery of complex hydrology, stormwater management, and drainage design solutions for large-scale infrastructure and land development projects across the Emirate.
The successful candidate will bring 15+ years of experience in hydrology and water infrastructure design, with a strong track record of working on major Abu Dhabi projects. You will be responsible for leading multidisciplinary teams, ensuring technical excellence, managing client and authority interfaces, and driving sustainable and innovative water management strategies tailored to regional requirements.
Technical Leadership & Hydrology Expertise
- Lead hydrological assessments, stormwater drainage strategies, and flood risk management studies for major infrastructure and masterplan developments.
- Oversee hydrological and hydraulic modelling including rainfall analysis, catchment delineation, flood modelling, and drainage capacity design.
- Develop and implement sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and climate-resilient water management solutions.
- Review and approve technical deliverables including reports, calculations, models, and design drawings.
- Ensure all designs comply with Abu Dhabi authority standards (ADM, ADSSC/ADDCD, and relevant guidelines) and international best practices.
Multidisciplinary Coordination
- Lead coordination with internal disciplines.
- Ensure integration of hydrology designs with overall infrastructure layouts and development strategies.
- Identify and manage design interfaces, risks, and dependencies across complex programmes.
- Support project delivery teams with technical input on planning, phasing, and execution strategies.
Client & Authority Engagement
- Act as a senior technical representative in client meetings, design workshops, and stakeholder engagements.
- Lead preparation of authority submissions and manage approval processes with relevant Abu Dhabi entities.
- Provide expert responses to authority comments and technical queries.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
Team Leadership & Capability Development
- Mentor and guide engineers and modellers within the hydrology discipline.
- Conduct technical reviews to ensure quality and consistency across project outputs.
- Support knowledge sharing and the continuous development of team capabilities.
Business Development & Strategic Contribution
- Support proposal development, technical bids, and client presentations related to hydrology and drainage design.
- Contribute to the growth and positioning of the water discipline within the business unit.
- Identify opportunities to enhance service offerings and drive technical innovation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 15+ years of experience specialising in hydrology, stormwater management, and drainage design.
- Extensive experience working on Abu Dhabi infrastructure and land development projects, with strong knowledge of local authority standards, guidelines, and approval processes.
- Proven track record delivering hydrology solutions on large-scale, multidisciplinary infrastructure projects within an engineering consultancy.
- Advanced proficiency in hydrological and hydraulic modelling tools such as InfoWorks ICM, Flood Modeller, HEC-RAS, StormCAD, MicroDrainage, or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Strong leadership, communication, and client-facing skills.
- Ability to manage complex technical challenges, drive project outcomes, and deliver high-quality, sustainable solutions.
