What you’ll be doing

  • Support aviation medical decision making, including passenger clearances and in-flight medical matters
  • Deliver accurate and timely medical assessments for employees and applicants, maintaining high-quality records
  • Provide Medical Review Officer services within the Alcohol and Other Drugs Programme to support compliance and safety
  • Conduct occupational health assessments and fitness-for-work evaluations that enable safe operations
  • Conduct pilot medical assessments
  • Contribute to medical research and projects that improve health outcomes and business performance
  • Support pre-employment medicals and workplace drug testing processes with consistency and care
  • Partner with OSH/E teams to identify risks and improve workplace health standards.

What you’ll bring

Given the regulatory and specialist nature of this role, there are some essential requirements you will need to hold at the time of application. To be considered, you must have:

  • Current registration as a New Zealand Medical Practitioner
  • Current NZCAA Medical Examiner Grade 1 certification
  • Relevant aviation and occupational medicine experience
  • Strong clinical judgement, excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Experience in general practice, emergency medicine or intensive care, and further postgraduate qualifications in occupational medicine will be advantageous.

Please note: current NZCAA Medical Examiner Grade 1 certification is an essential requirement for this position. Unfortunately, we are unable to consider applications from candidates who do not currently hold this certification.
