Job Purpose:
The Avionics & Mission Systems Test Equipment Engineer is responsible for developing, and maintaining specialized test equipment and systems to support acceptance and qualification testing of UAV platforms and subsystems. This role ensures that test solutions meet system requirements, enable efficient and accurate validation, and align with customer and regulatory standards. The engineer collaborates closely with system, design, and test execution teams to provide testability input, develop hardware/software interfaces, automate test processes, and maintain robust test environments throughout the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Test Equipment to enable execution of Acceptance Testing as per Requirements specified by System Engineer
- Working closely with test execution team to understand the test cases, propose test capabilities
- Collaborate with the development team to troubleshoot, debug, and fix issues
- Participate in Platform/System design reviews to give testability inputs to platform designers
- Design and implement firmware and software for Specialized Test Equipment
- Design interfaces between Test Bench and System Under Test
- Integrate FW/SW installation into the test process as per customer requirements
- Create test process instructions
- Build, commissioning and maintenance of complex test systems
- Developing requirements, methods, test plans, flow charts, data flow diagrams and other documentation to verify designs
- Update test scripts based on bugs and changes/upgrades in the system
- Maintain and upgrade test environments as needed
- Help coordinate and conduct user acceptance testing
Qualification & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
- Experience: 6-8 years of experience in test equipment design, development, and integration, preferably in UAV or aerospace industries.
- Training: Continuous professional development in emerging test technologies and UAV system advancements, aerospace standarts, familiarity with military or aerospace protocols is preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Proven experience in test automation, test procedures, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for designing test equipment.
- Experience with programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python, LabVIEW, C/C++).
- Experience in using electrical testing instruments like oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and signal generators.
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and systems engineering principles.
- Experience with UAV systems or testing environments, including avionics, propulsion, and communication systems preferred.
- Knowledge of simulation and modeling tools preferred.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards (e.g., MIL-STD, DO-160, ISO 9001) preferred.
- Certifications in safety standards (e.g., OSHA, IEC standards) or relevant engineering certifications (e.g., PMP) preferred.
