AZ/DZ Operator is a full time, on site role in Parry Sound with Shwe Miikaan Miller Partnership, supporting road maintenance and paving projects for Shawanaga, Magnetawan and Henvey Inlet First Nations in Northern Ontario. You must hold a Class DZ license, have road maintenance experience with knowledge of OTM book 7, and be mechanically inclined to run small tools and heavy equipment. On call availability for day, night and weekend shifts is required. Preferred: the ability to lift 50 lbs and basic computer skills. Daily tasks include driving straight and articulated trucks, loading and unloading, operating tack trucks, circle checks, maintenance, and timely timesheets, all with safety first. Comp $28-$32/hr. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Class DZ license
  • Road maintenance experience and knowledge of OTM book 7
  • Mechanically inclined to operate small tools and heavy equipment
  • Willingness to remain on call and work assigned day, night and weekend shifts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • Basic computer skills 

Day in the Life

As a truck driver, you will begin to know the highways like the back of your hand, as you will be responsible for transporting precious cargo, operating and driving straight and articulated trucks, loading/unloading materials, and operating tack trucks for paving operations. Strong communications skills will also be necessary as you coordinate with clients, customers and dispatch.

When you are not driving, you will be conducting daily circle checks on vehicles, cleaning, and performing equipment maintenance but safety will be your number one priority. It will also be important to stay organized when completing daily timesheets and log books.

Compensation Data
