Job Description
Ability Action Australia is growing — and we’re looking for a Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our multi-disciplinary team in the North Lakes office.
Successful candidates will be providing supports to NDIS participants living in the North Brisbane Region.
Responsibilities will include:
- Assisting NDIS participants, along with their families and/or carers, to manage challenging behaviours to improve their quality of life, and develop new skills
- You will complete thorough assessments to understand behaviour triggers, identify risks & consider specific strategies to improve behaviour outcomes
- You will develop Behaviour Support Plans and provide support to families and/or carers, for consistent implementation
- Maintain a caseload with ongoing monitoring, support and make adjustments where required.
- Develop meaningful goals and practical strategies utilising a positive behaviour support framework, with a commitment to eliminate restrictive practices, in the home and community
- Ensuring individual plans reflect our NDIS participants' goals, passions and strengths, as well as ensuring they get more out of life
- Build the knowledge, capacity and strengths of those who support participants in their lives - family, carers or friends
- Act as an advocate and role model for best practice
- Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Qualifications
What we are looking for:
- Extensive experience working within the NDIS framework and supporting individuals with disabilities and challenging behaviours
- Degree level qualifications of relevance to providing support to people with behaviours of concern are highly preferred
- Passion for supporting individuals with complex needs and challenging behaviours
- Commitment to person-centred practice and reducing restrictive interventions
- Strong report writing skills and the ability to translate assessment findings into clear, actionable plans
- Excellent time management and organisational skills to balance a dynamic caseload
