Teck Alaska is hiring a Building Maintenance Service Person Electrician VI at Red Dog for a two weeks on-site, two weeks off-site rotation, reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor. The role requires ten years in commercial or manufacturing electrical maintenance, a state electrical license, HVAC control system knowledge, and the ability to read schematics and lead projects with minimal supervision while upholding MSHA and Red Dog EMS safety standards. You will service the PAC, Mill, Service Complex and satellite areas, perform electrical repairs and installations, respond to emergencies, and assist renovations. Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world's largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for Building Maintenance Service Person Electrician VI
Rotation schedule will be two weeks on-site and two week off-site
Reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of environmental risks and hazards as well as comply with safety policies and procedures (MSHA and Red Dog EMS training)
• Ensures daily workplace inspections are completed in order to accurately identify and correct workplace hazards prior to work commencing
• Perform electrical maintenance on the Personnel Accommodation Complex (PAC), Mill Complex, Service Complex, Contractor Camp (CC), and other satellite areas
• Primary role will be electrical repairs, troubleshooting, servicing, and installation of the HVAC control systems, Air Handling Units (AHUs), Refrigeration systems, Boilers, Furnaces, Commercial Kitchen Appliances, lighting circuits, receptacles, heat trace, satellite dish, cable TV and sound systems
• When required, assist in the coordination of projects from conception thru to completion
• When needed, assist with and perform general trade maintenance work such as carpentry, plumbing, dry walling, carpet and flooring, painting, snow removal, laundry equipment & systems, lock and key replacements, and associated building control systems
• When required, contribute to renovations and remodels
• Respond to emergency calls, power outages, leaks, spills and other urgent needs. Take immediate corrective actions as needed
• Create and complete Maintenance Work Orders (MWOs) as directed, by accurately recording maintenance activities, including repairs made, and parts used or required
• Communicate effectively with their supervisor, FM Planner, other crew members and related departments about task status and ensure carryover and updates of completed tasks throughout the shift / rotation
• Ensures compliance with all State Codes, established policies and standard operating procedures and advises coworkers of such policies and procedures as required
• Perform other duties as assigned
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in Commercial/Manufacturing Electrical Maintenance
• Passed a State Licensing exam in Electrical maintenance
• High level of HVAC Control system knowledge and experience
• Proficient reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and literature
• Ability to take a project from conception thru to completion with very minimal supervision
• Adhere to high safety standards
• Able to work day, afternoon, or night shifts as required, as well as on call as required
• Team player and able to communicate and get along well with others
• Highly motivated and have the ability to perform tasks with limited direction
• Perform labor intensive work when required
• Work outdoors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions
