The Business Activation Manager role is part of the Growth Sectors team that sits within the Partnership Banking business unit.

The BNZ Growth Sectors is focused on identifying, attracting, and supporting New Zealand’s most ambitious growth businesses. We help businesses grow faster and more safely, connecting them with capital, capability, and expertise.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We sat down with the People Leader (who you would report to), and they told us the following about the role: 

This role is responsible for contributing to and embedding BNZ’s business activation strategy, leveraging partnerships, sponsorships, and our broader ecosystem to deliver meaningful customer and business outcomes.

You’ll drive end-to-end activation performance, from strategy through to execution, ensuring all initiatives deliver measurable value, strengthen relationships, and grow BNZ’s presence in market.

What are the key day to day tasks the person in this role will complete?

  • Leverage BNZ’s sponsorship assets and partnerships to maximise return on investment and deliver best practice activations.

  • Champion consistent, high-quality activation delivery across the bank, providing guidance to other business units.

  • Oversee end-to-end activation management including planning, execution, reporting, and performance analysis.

  • Manage budgets, resources, and timelines to ensure cost-effective and efficient delivery.

  • Work across internal stakeholders and external partners (including agencies) to deliver integrated go-to-market activations.

  • Embed best practice processes and ensure all activations are accurately documented and measured.

What attributes will this person have in order to be successful?

Your engaging personality coupled with your ability to remain calm, self-motivated and providing the highest levels of service will ensure your success in this role. You’ll be a team player who has excellent communication skills, with a huge desire to learn. You will have:

  • 7+ years’ experience in business activation, partnerships, or sponsorship leverage.

  • Proven experience developing and delivering activation strategies at scale. 

  • Strong ability to think strategically and connect activity to broader business outcomes.

  • Experience working with external agency partners.

  • Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.

  • Strong project management capability, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.  

  • Self-starter with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.

  • Leadership experience in complex organisations, including managing people, budgets, and resources would be desirable

  • Tertiary qualification in marketing, events, or related field preferred
