iwoca is building a new SME insurance business and is seeking a Business Development Representative who loves fast paced outbound outreach and building real relationships with business owners. In this role you will proactively reach out to SMEs ahead of renewal dates, master the pitch, manage a full HubSpot pipeline, and collaborate with in house brokers to turn early feedback into smarter product and sales approaches. We’re after someone with prior client facing or outbound experience, exceptional communication, resilience, and a can do mindset, plus a genuine willingness to learn insurance with the training provided. Salary around £30,000 plus bonus, with room for progression in a scaling fintech; tips to apply include tailoring your CV to show measurable wins, highlighting pipeline management, and signaling salary expectations early.

We're looking for Business Development Representatives

We’re building a new insurance business from the ground up to protect SMEs, and we’re looking for Business Development Representatives to join our team. If you’re a high-energy communicator who loves building relationships and wants to gain experience, qualifications, and career progression at a leading fintech, apply now.

The company

We're here because we believe in SMEs. We believe they deserve better than confusing jargon, slow and outdated customer experiences, and being caught out by hidden conditions and fees. And we believe it's our job to help them navigate risk with confidence.

Since 2012, iwoca has made finance fast, flexible, and fair for over 150,000 businesses. Now, we're doing the same for insurance. We're building a brand new insurance business from the ground up — to protect SMEs in the moments that matter most.

Our passionate team is driven to help even more SMEs succeed by providing access to better finance and services that make running a business easier. Our ultimate mission is to support one million SMEs in their defining moments, creating lasting impact for the communities and economies they drive.

The team

The team is a small, entrepreneurial group responsible for launching iwoca's new SME insurance business. Here’s how the team work together:

  • Customer-obsessed: The team challenges itself to build insurance that its customers actually want, rather than what insurers simply want to sell.

  • Curious & supportive: The team collaborates across disciplines to find creative solutions to complex problems in a safe and supportive environment.

  • Move fast & have fun: The team is fast-paced and highly autonomous, but makes sure to celebrate wins and have fun along the way.

  • Ambitious & entrepreneurial: The environment is ideal for people who thrive on taking ownership of their work and are ready to roll up their sleeves and build.

The role

You’ll be the person introducing our new insurance offering to businesses who are tired of the status quo. You’ll help SMEs move away from complicated, slow insurance policies and make them aware of a fairer, more transparent way to protect their business.

In this role, you will:

  • Proactively engage with SME business operators by phone ahead of their business insurance renewal date to offer a better alternative.

  • Master the art of the pitch—navigating gatekeepers, articulating our value proposition, and turning objections into opportunities for our brokers to help them.

  • Manage your pipeline end-to-end within our HubSpot CRM, ensuring meticulous record-keeping and proactive follow-ups so that no opportunity is missed.

  • Collaborate closely with our in-house brokers and wider team to turn early customer feedback into insights that refine our product offering and sales strategy.

The requirements

What we're looking for:

  • Previous experience navigating outbound or client-facing interactions within a professional business environment.

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to build rapport, influence decisions, and handle commercial objections over the phone and email.

  • A high-energy, resilient, and results-oriented personality that thrives on achieving goals. You have sharp problem-solving instincts and a "can-do" mindset.

  • Organised and proactive approach to managing your workload.

  • Ability to adapt and excel in a fast-moving, high-growth atmosphere.

  • Eagerness to learn - insurance industry experience isn’t necessary - we will provide training to help you succeed.

  • A desire to secure professional qualifications and drive long-term career progression within a rapidly scaling fintech environment

The salary

We expect to pay around £30,000 plus bonus for this role. But, we’re open-minded, so definitely include your salary goals with your application. We routinely benchmark salaries against market rates, and run quarterly performance and salary reviews.

The culture

At iwoca, we prioritise a culture of learning, growth, and support, and invest in the professional development of our team members. We value thought and skill diversity, and encourage you to explore new areas of interest to help us innovate and improve our products and services.

The offices

We put a lot of effort into making iwoca a great place to work:

  • Offices in London, Leeds, Berlin, and Frankfurt with plenty of drinks and snacks.

  • Events and community-led groups, including running groups, padel, and monthly ping-pong and pool competitions.

The benefits

  • Flexible working hours.

  • Medical insurance from Vitality, including discounted gym membership.

  • A private GP service (separate from Vitality) for you, your partner, and your dependents.

  • 25 days’ holiday per year, an extra day off for your birthday, the option to buy or sell an additional five days of annual leave, and unlimited unpaid leave.

  • A one-month, fully paid sabbatical after four years.

  • Instant access to external counselling and therapy sessions for team members that need emotional or mental health support.

  • 3% Pension contributions on total earnings.

  • An employee equity incentive scheme.

  • Generous parental leave and a nursery tax benefit scheme to help you save money.

  • Electric car scheme and cycle to work scheme.

  • Two company retreats a year: we’ve been to France, Italy, Spain, and further afield.

And to make sure we all keep learning, we offer:

  • A learning and development budget for everyone.

  • Company-wide talks with internal and external speakers.

  • Access to learning platforms like Treehouse.
