PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Reporting to the Team Lead Finance Solutions, as the Specialist Functional Analyst – SAP Finance Solutions, you will gather requirements, analyze, estimate, prioritize, design, build, test, implement and maintain the required functionality within the respective SAP modules in support of business processes and procedures. 

This position can be based in Calgary, Toronto or Kansas City.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Responsible for delivering sustainment and project activities to support CPKC foundations, primarily in the area of SAP Finance-AA, PS and or RE-FX.
  • Develop a strong understanding to maintain and support existing CPKC SAP Finance applications through ticket/incident management in accordance with SLAs
  • Design, implement, and optimize sustainable solutions or enhancements through SAP configuration and development activities, aligned with best business practices and CPKC IS architectural standards
  • Support the development of test strategies and test plans; ensure traceability of requirements to business needs, solutions, and testing; validate that solutions meet business requirements and conform to specifications
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with CPKC Finance teams
  • Coordinate with cross-functional groups to conduct blueprinting, requirements analysis, impact assessments, product demonstrations, and training workshops
  • Collaborate with IS technical teams, PMO, Change Management, architecture, and business stakeholders to deliver projects and operational activities
  • Capture and document non-functional requirements (e.g., usability, learnability, reliability) and liaise with architecture to ensure broader requirements (e.g., security, compatibility, maintainability) are addressed
  • Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across teams
  • Participate in the on-call support rotation for the SAP production environment

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Post-secondary education (degree or diploma) in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field;
  • 6+ years related experience, including systems/applications development and support, business systems analysis, systems project management, of which 3+ years’ experience is directly related to implementation and support of SAP Enterprise systems, specifically the FI module in the areas of AA, PS and/or RE-FX
  • Strong SAP FI configuration experience with hands-on support across core FI modules, including AA, PS, and/or RE-FX
  • Proven experience with SAP project delivery and ongoing application support
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues, identify solutions, and effectively communicate with business stakeholders through successful implementation
  • Knowledge of SAP product suite, including business processes, configuration, navigation, integrations (HR, PM, MM), and SAP Business Intelligence
  • Familiarity with New GL, Consolidations, Regulatory Reporting, and SAP S/4HANA (considered an asset)
  • Experience with SAP Solution Manager/CHARM and change management processes
  • End-to-end delivery experience: requirements gathering, design, configuration, testing (unit and UAT), transport coordination, training, go-live, and post-production support
  • SAP Certification is considered an asset

Management Conductor Program
