Cleaver-Brooks Canada Packaged Boiler Systems, a leading manufacturer of boilers and energy recovery systems, has an immediate opening for a Buyer in their Materials Department, at their facility, located at 161 Lorne Ave West, Stratford, Ontario Canada. This is a full time position, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Salary Range: $60,000–$75,000 CAD per year

The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and procuring materials and components for boiler fabrication and aftermarket sales. This role requires strong vendor management skills, technical purchasing experience, and the ability to coordinate with engineering, production, and quality control teams to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.

The successful candidate will be mature and responsible, able to work overtime when required and have their own transportation.

Job Location: Stratford, ON

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source and purchase materials, fabricated components, and consumables specific to boiler production and aftermarket service parts.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, favorable terms, and quality assurance.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and maintain approved supplier lists.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to align procurement with project timelines.
  • Monitor stock levels and initiate orders to prevent shortages or overstocking.
  • Ensure compliance with internal purchasing policies and external regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier information using the ERP system.
  • Resolve issues related to delivery, quality, or pricing in coordination with suppliers.
  • Assist Traffic Coordinator with customs paperwork for cross boarder shipments.  Commercial Customs Invoices, USMCA updates and tariff related requirements.

Qualifications and skills:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience with Purchasing
  • Proficient in reading technical drawings and interpreting specifications.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or IFS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Negotiation and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in related field.
  • Procurement certification is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of standards found in manufacturing environments.
