MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Certified Welding Inspector to join our vehicle sustainment team in Kindsbach, Germany. The selected candidate will provide maintenance and logistics support to multiple families of vehicles globally on the Allied Logistics Engineering Capabilities Sustainment (ALECS) program.

Please Note: For positions requiring welding skills, candidates must successfully pass a standardized certification test in accordance with AWS and MANTECH Weld Procedures. Failure to validate welding proficiency may result in withdrawal of the offer or termination. Maintaining certification and the ability to perform assigned duties is a condition of continued employment.

*Important Note*: Selected candidates require favorable completion and receipt of Technical Expert Status Accreditation (TESA) from the German Lander. TESA Approval Organization. Any stated date is an approximate projection based upon the eleven (11) week TESA review cycle.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Research, plan, design, and develop new applications for electromechanical equipment and systems to support fabrication and sustainment.
  • Review contractor standards, specifications, and other technical documentation to determine mechanical engineering and welding requirements.
  • Design or assess simple mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, ventilation, and instrumentation systems using investigative techniques and engineering methods.
  • Gather and analyze basic engineering data; perform calculations and simple tests to support system upgrades or application improvements.
  • Guide and assist technicians in the fabrication and installation of mechanical equipment to ensure conformance with engineering specifications and customer requirements.
  • Inspect welding work on ballistic hulls and vehicle components using AWS D1.1 standards; evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to improve performance.
  • Review and correct engineering drawings to ensure alignment with technical and safety standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ten (10) years of relevant experience in welding, inspection, or electromechanical systems.
  • Valid AWS Welding Inspector certification.
  • Familiarity with MIG, TIG, ARC, FCAW, and SMAW processes to interpret and inspect completed welds.
  • Experience reviewing mechanical and pneumatic systems for compliance with engineering standards.
  • Strong institutional knowledge of electromechanical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems, acquired through direct military or commercial equipment support.
  • Ability to meet government physical deployment standards and travel extensively to both CONUS and OCONUS locations, including hostile zones.
  • Ability to successfully pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screening; must possess a Valid Driver’s License for the location in which the work will be performed, a High School Diploma or GED, and a U.S. Passport valid for at least two years beyond the start date.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous maintenance experience with MRAP Family of Vehicles (FOV) or RCV systems.
  • Experience operating or maintaining systems in hostile environments.
  • Familiarity with ballistic hull welding and blueprint-driven fabrication.
  • Ability to contribute to engineering design feedback and technical documentation.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be a US Citizen with a current/active secret clearance.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to balance, bend, carry, crouch, stretch, and kneel.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and reach.
  • Must be able to work in high-noise environments.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and small parts.
  • Must be able to use computers and CRTs, and type on a standard keyboard.
