Job Description

We have a fixed term position until 09 Jan 2027 with the following hours of work:

  • Fridays & Saturdays - 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm

The Warehouse Newmarket is seeking a friendly and efficient Self Checkout / Checkout Team Member to join our retail team on a fixed term part-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service whilst operating both traditional and self-checkout systems.

  • Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner
  • Operate traditional checkout tills and oversee self-checkout areas
  • Process cash and card transactions accurately and efficiently
  • Provide guidance to customers using self-checkout systems
  • Ensure the checkout area is clean, tidy, and well-stocked
  • Handle customer queries and resolve issues promptly
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of store products and promotions
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during peak times
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including health and safety guidelines

Qualifications

  • Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanour
  • Strong cash handling abilities and basic maths skills
  • Proficiency in operating Point of Sale (POS) systems
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift items up to 15 kg
  • Previous retail experience, particularly in a checkout role, is desirable but not essential
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently when required
  • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
