The role plans and runs the before and after school care program to be safe and enriching, supervises activities, reinforces non punitive behavior, coordinates schedules and supplies, reports incidents, and works with staff and parents while upholding district policies. Requirements: a high school diploma or GED and either one year of school-based aftercare experience with BASCC components I and II plus 10 hours BASCC training yearly and CPR/First Aid, or Florida My Florida modules SNP, UDAP and SAP plus 10 hours BASCC training; must be 18+, computer skills. The Child Care Monitor II shall carry out the performance responsibilities listed below.
• Adhere to Before and After School Child Care Quality Standards.
• Directly supervise and facilitate activities or areas to provide appropriate experiences for children.
• Set and maintain appropriate standards for children’s behavior using non-punitive methods which teach self-discipline while supporting children’s self-esteem.
• Provide direct supervision of play areas and children’s activities to ensure safety and quality.
• Participate in planning and evaluating activities and scheduling for children.
• Procure equipment and assist in cleanup of supplies for planned activities.
• Assist in reporting student incidents to the appropriate personnel.
• Provide timely input on needed program supplies and materials.
• Maintain a cooperative relationship with all other staff members.
• Interact positively with all parents and refer questions and concerns to the Child Care Supervisor as appropriate.
• Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida.
• Participate in training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to job responsibilities.
• Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities.
• Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures.
• Follow federal and state, as well as School Board policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or designee.

Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
