AECOM’s Civil Engineering Intern Transport program in Christchurch is a 12-week paid internship (Nov 2026 to Feb 2027) for penultimate-year civil engineering students to gain project experience from concept to operation, working in multidisciplinary teams on roadway infrastructure and sustainable solutions. You’ll learn from technical experts, contribute to design and management tasks, and have a clear pathway to graduate opportunities in a global firm. Job Description

Join our dynamic team as a Civil Engineering Intern! You will have the chance to work on a variety of projects alongside experienced professionals, gaining valuable insights into the civil engineering field. Our projects range from large-scale initiatives to smaller, detailed works, providing you with a broad spectrum of learning opportunities.

How you’ll make a difference:

• Assist in Project Development: Support projects at different stages, from initial concept design to construction and operation.
• Contribute to Design and Management: Help with design tasks, project management, and engage with stakeholders to ensure project success.
• Innovative Solutions: Work with the team to develop creative and sustainable solutions for diverse engineering challenges.
• Collaborate with Teams: Participate in multidisciplinary teams to help deliver and maintain major roadway infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Summer Intern attributes: Interns who are curious and excited to apply their studies in a professional environment. You'll bring strong communication and teamwork skills, a positive and proactive attitude, adaptability, and a commitment to professionalism and integrity. 
• Bachelor’s Degree: You must be in your penultimate year of a Bachelor’s or Postgraduate degree in Civil Engineering.
• Commencement: Able to work full time hours from 16 November 2026 – 19 February 2027. 
• Working Rights: You must have full working rights to work in New Zealand before applying.
