You’ll manage referrals, conduct intake assessments and crisis triage, and deliver single-session brief interventions, with secondary consultations to external services. Alfred Infant Child and Youth Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service is friendly to infants, children, young people and their families/carers.
We provide accessible mental health services inclusive of family, friends and support networks.
We are a specialist, multi-disciplinary and intensive care mental health service incorporating the lived and living experience of family peer specialists and youth peer workers.
Our service is divided into two streams: 0-11 and 12-26 years, and includes specialist services in the areas of perinatal care, neurodevelopmental presentations, eating disorders and outreach support.

What you’ll be doing
About you
Essential
Approved tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline and eligibility for membership of AHPRA (or the appropriate professional body):
Registered Nurse
- Bachelor Degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or equivalent OR Bachelor Degree in Nursing or equivalent
- Registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA
- Approved postgraduate qualification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.
Occupational Therapist
- Registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia via AHPRA
Psychologist
- Registration as a Psychologist and Endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act (2009), or eligibility and willingness to participate in a registrar training program leading to endorsement. please do not apply if you are currently a Provisional Psychologist.
- Masters or Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology
Social Worker
- Approved Bachelor or Masters degree in Social Work
- Eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
You'll also have to complete/provide a valid Victorian Working with Children Check, be willing to undergo a background check, and you'll require Australian working rights.
