About the Role

Sydney Water is seeking an experienced Commercial Lead (analyst) to support the execution of infrastructure projects and commercial initiatives across the organisation. Working closely key stakeholders such as technical planners, engineers, operations, legal and procurement experts, you will help Sydney Water optimise commercial outcomes while managing risks. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Development & Execution: Support the delivery of major infrastructure projects through optioneering, value-engineering and commercial structuring.
  • Business Case Development: Develop robust business cases that consider both short-term and long-term implications, ensuring risk minimisation and value maximisation.
  • Financial Modelling: Create clear and structured financial models to assess complex commercial propositions, including regulatory and tax considerations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and execute initiatives to improve value for money and productivity for Sydney Water.
  • Strategy Development: Work with relevant experts to develop and assess strategic options, providing recommendations for decision-making.
  • Negotiation Support: Support the negotiation team, providing commercial insights to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Documentation Development: Work with the legal team and stakeholders to develop term sheets and contractual documents.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Strong expertise in financial modelling, due diligence processes, and business case development.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work across different teams with financial and technical backgrounds.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset.
