About the Job:

An opportunity has arisen for a Commis 2 to join the Culinary department in Jumeirah Saadiyat Island. The main duties and responsibilities of this role are:

  • Gathers, measures, mixes, and prepares meal ingredients, sauces, and seasoning 
  • Wash, peel, and chop vegetables, fruits, and meat etc. as applicable 
  • Knowledge of cutting and seasoning different meats as and marination 
  • Prepare basic dishes such as salads and sauces 
  • Ensure that the food items are stocked properly in refrigerators and freezers 
  • Follow established recipe and plating guide provided, to exact specification 
  • Set-up the station with par stocks of menu items and carry out all food preparation tasks given by the Commis 1 | Demi Chef | Chef De Partie designated for that station 
  • Effectively able to maintain high levels of kitchen assistance service at all times. Keep a track of the inventory supplies
  • Continually develops culinary knowledge to produce high-quality meals 
  • Adept at performing food rotation tasks, in order to ensure ingredient freshness 
  • Replenishes service lines, restocks, and prepares the workstation for the next shift

About you:

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:

  • College Degree in Culinary Arts or similar from an accredited Culinary School.
  • 1-2 year of experience in a range of kitchen areas; ideally within the luxury hospitality industry 
  • Proven commercial kitchen experience
