Community and Content Manager - Transworld

We are looking for a Community and Content Manager to own the day-to-day management, content creation, growth and tone of voice across Transworld’s social and community channels, including Wayward, Bantam, Doubleday and Torva. You will build meaningful relationships with readers, influencers, booksellers and book clubs, and help ensure our imprints remain culturally relevant by spotting and reacting to emerging trends and key calendar moments.

About the team

Transworld is home to bestselling, genre-defining authors and imprints, with distinctive communities of readers across Wayward, Bantam, Doubleday and Torva. Our marketing team works closely with editorial, publicity and sales, alongside central PRH digital teams, to connect books with audiences through standout campaigns, social-first storytelling and community-led activity.

The role

In this role you will be focused on creating and publishing content, moderating and growing communities, and act as a primary connector between Transworld and its audiences (online and offline). You will have a particular focus on creating content that is in line with each of our social channels, from building our Wayward community, supporting the launch and growth of new romance and genre communities (including After Hours), supporting the creation of new social channels and partnerships for Torva and channel management and community growth for Doubleday. You’ll work closely with our Marketing Analyst, leveraging insights and performance data to inform decisions, while keeping creativity and cultural relevance at the heart of everything you do.

Key responsibilities:

  • Own the day-to-day management of Transworld-owned social and community channels (Instagram, TikTok, X/Twitter, Facebook and emerging platforms).
  • Build and maintain relationships with book influencers, creators, booksellers and cultural tastemakers; manage outreach and influencer databases for the team.
  • Build and nurture relationships with book clubs (online and offline) and create meaningful engagement moments (Q&As, takeovers, discussions and events where appropriate).
  • Create, maintain and manage content schedules; working with marketing colleagues to plan content around campaigns, publications and key moments.
  • Create on-brand and reactive content in response to trends and cultural moments.
  • Lead channel moderation and engagement, responding to comments, messages and mentions in a timely, on-brand way.
  • Monitor trends, platform developments and audience conversation with the Marketing Analyst; share insights with marketing, publicity and editorial teams.
  • Plan, write and manage community-led newsletters and support community outreach initiatives, partnerships and events.

What you’ll bring

You’ll be community-first, creatively ambitious and confident creating content for platforms where book lovers spend time. You’ll enjoy switching between different audiences and imprints, and you’ll be comfortable working at pace in a reactive environment.

Essential criteria:

  • Experience managing and growing social media and/or online communities for a consumer-facing brand.
  • Strong understanding of major social platforms, especially Instagram and TikTok, including trend spotting and best practice.
  • Ability to create static and video content for all social media platforms, with a strong creative instinct and attention to tone of voice.
  • Experience planning and managing content schedules and juggling multiple priorities.
  • Experience working with influencers/creators and/or booksellers, including outreach, relationship management and tracking.
  • Data and insight-aware: confident reading channel performance and using learnings
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills; confident collaborating with multiple internal stakeholders.
  • A strong personal interest in books, reading and book culture, with awareness of bookish online communities.

Preferred criteria:

  • Experience in publishing, bookselling, media or another book-adjacent sector.
  • Experience writing and managing newsletters (e.g. Mailchimp) or other owned community communications.
  • Experience supporting or coordinating community events (virtual or in person).
  • Familiarity with social listening/analytics tools and reporting (or a strong appetite to learn).

Application instructions

Please apply with your CV and cover letter outlining why you are the right candidate for the role by 11:59pm on Sunday 22nd February.

Please ensure you include a cover letter, as it is a crucial part of our assessment process. As part of your cover letter, please tell us about a recent social media trend you’ve enjoyed and why you think it captured attention?

We anticipate a two-stage interview process which will include a virtual first-stage interview and an in-person second stage interview. The process will include a task where you’ll be asked to create content, so we can see your ideas and instincts in action.

Salary

£32,000 - £37,000 dependent on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits.

Hybrid working

While our offices across the UK are places to connect, collaborate and celebrate with colleagues, we recognise that flexibility around where you work is just as important. This role is based in our London office at Embassy Gardens and we offer a hybrid approach, with Tuesdays and Wednesdays being the current in-office days.
