The Compliance Monitoring Manager will be responsible for managing the Group CMP particularly the Retail Banking business, to provide assurance that the Group is operating in line with regulatory requirements and internal compliance policies and procedures. This entails planning, development and implementation of the risk-based Group CMP, working with the business units to undertake reviews and issuing reports that provide assurance as well as highlighting controls deficiencies so that they can be corrected.
Job responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive CMP based on compliance risk assessment of assigned business or support units.
- Lead and coordinate monitoring reviews, ensuring adherence to CMP timelines. This includes managing the execution of reviews by team members, developing a detailed monitoring review program, and performing comprehensive testing and analysis to identify key compliance risks and assess the adequacy and effectiveness of controls in alignment with regulatory/policy requirements.
- Incorporate data-driven approaches/tools/techniques into review planning and execution for comprehensive review coverage and efficient execution of reviews.
- Articulate and document critical review findings, developing practical, value-adding recommendations that drive process improvement and mitigate risk.
- Cultivate and drive strategic stakeholder alignment across all review phases, fostering collaborative resolution and ensuring seamless communication and transparency.
- Oversee the end-to-end remediation process for identified issues, driving timely closure and providing strategic updates to senior management.
- Generate high-impact reporting and presentation materials that effectively articulate audit findings, risk exposure, and remediation progress to the Board.
- Train/mentor staff members, providing guidance on monitoring review methodologies, techniques and best practices, to enhance technical skills and knowledge and foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.
This role will require competence/skills across the following areas:
- Banking Operations/Activities: Possess good understanding of key banking activities/operations.
- Regulatory Knowledge & Expertise: Deep understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, and the ability to interpret complex statutory language and assess its impact on the business.
- Risk Management & Assessment: Expertise in identifying, evaluating, and mitigating compliance risks and designing controls to address them effectively.
- Auditing Principles & Methodologies: Proven ability to plan, execute, and manage monitoring reviews, including evidence collection and analysis.
- Policy Development: Experience in developing, implementing, reviewing, and updating clear internal compliance policies and procedures that align with regulatory requirements.
- Data Analytics & IT Knowledge: Proficiency in using data analytics tools and techniques to identify trends, spot potential non-compliance patterns, manage compliance software, and generate reports.
- Project Management: Strong organizational and project management skills to ensure the Compliance Monitoring Program (CMP) timelines and objectives are met, including tracking remediation efforts to closure.
- Documentation & Reporting: Meticulous record-keeping, policy writing, and the ability to prepare detailed, clear, and concise reports and presentations for senior management and the board.
