WSP is seeking a Consultant in Air Quality & Environment Advisory in Abu Dhabi to deliver air quality management projects for the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi, providing technical input, stakeholder engagement and liaison while collaborating with UK and Middle East teams to support decisions. The role blends advanced air quality modelling with business development, including proposal writing and securing new wins, and may include project management. Essential: a science degree (2.1 or above), experience with EAD, knowledge of international air quality policies and modelling techniques; desirable: GIS, R, Eulerian models such as CMAQ/WRF-Chem. You will be responsible for contributing to the delivery of air quality management projects for Environment Agency in Abu Dhabi, providing technical input as well as carrying out stakeholder engagement, training and client liaison. You will work closely with colleagues in the UK and Middle East offices to deliver high quality solutions on EAD projects including characterizing the impacts of policy on air pollution levels, developing and modelling policy scenarios, and making intensive use of data to support decision making.

You will contribute to our business development in the Middle East, working with colleagues to build relationships with key clients, identify and develop new opportunities, write proposals and secure new wins.

The role will also require the use of air quality modelling tools, interpretation of technical data and preparation of technical reports. You should have the ability to interact with air quality professionals including policy makers at national and/or international level and to write reports in English to a professional standard.

Specific tasks will include technical air quality modelling at an advanced level but also include business development and the preparation of proposals to win new follow-on contracts. You may be involved in managing projects to time and costs, delivering training and stakeholder engagement events, building client relationships, and the technical delivery of projects. You will be responsible for the quality and delivery of your work and will work alongside other consultants including Knowledge Leaders and Business Area Managers.

 

Key competencies and experience:

Essential

  • A Bachelors (2.1 or above), Masters or PhD in a scientific subject.
  • Experience working with the Environment Agency in Abu Dhabi.
  • Understanding of international air quality management policies (for example, WHO policy; funding agency policies; air quality policies, standards and regulations in the UAE).
  • Knowledge of air quality modelling techniques at different scales.
  • Experience in supporting the development of air quality policy by using models.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • Experience using data processing software such as R.
  • Experience using Eulerian models (e.g. CMAQ, WRF-Chem).
