About The Role 

At BASF we are entering an exciting time within our Agriculture business with an existing portfolio of world class products and a pipeline of new products that will bring significant benefits to the agriculture industry.

As a Contra Season Agronomy Lead, you will play a key role in delivering BASF's North American canola seed program from Australia. You'll lead agronomic strategy and execution across parent seed, breeding and hybrid production programs, providing technical leadership to agronomy teams while driving crop performance, seed quality and operational excellence.

How You Will Do It

• Lead agronomic strategy and field execution across BASF's contra-season canola seed production programs, ensuring strong yield, quality and timeliness outcomes.
• Provide technical leadership, coaching and development to agronomists, seasonal employees and field teams to build high-performing operations.
• Drive field decision-making, crop monitoring and agronomic troubleshooting to optimise production performance and resolve issues quickly.
• Partner with North American stakeholders to align production plans, resources and delivery timelines with business requirements.
• Oversee seed quality, certification and compliance activities, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Champion a safety-first culture and ensure all field operations meet EHS, stewardship and quality requirements.

What We Look For

To be successful in this role, you'll bring extensive agronomy and seed production experience, along with a passion for leading teams and delivering outstanding crop outcomes. You'll enjoy balancing strategic planning with hands-on field leadership and thrive in a fast-paced agricultural production environment.

You will:

• Hold a degree in Agricultural Science or a related discipline.
• Have minimum 7 years of experience in agribusiness, including significant seed production experience, ideally within hybrid canola systems.
• Bring proven leadership experience, with a track record of developing and leading high-performing teams.
• Have strong agronomic knowledge and practical experience in crop production, field operations and agronomy decision-making.
• Demonstrate excellent problem-solving, planning and stakeholder management skills in complex operational environments.
• Possess strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams across Australia and North America.
