About Highland Valley Copper

Highland Valley Copper (HVC) Operations is Canada’s largest open-pit copper mine and molybdenum operation. HVC produces both copper and molybdenum concentrate through autogenous and semi-autogenous grinding and flotation.
 
Located approximately 17 kilometers west of Logan Lake and about 50 kilometers southwest of Kamloops in British Columbia, the surrounding areas of HVC have an abundant offering of outdoor experiences. 

 

Role Overview

For this position, we are looking for a student with an Engineering background to join our Maintenance Planning team. In this role, you'll help improve data accuracy in our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), assist with planning repairs for mobile equipment, and support ongoing improvement projects around asset and inventory management. 

 

This is a great opportunity to get hands-on experience with heavy equipment planning, learn how large-scale mining operations work, and play a part in making our processes more efficient and reliable across the site. 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Assist with improving equipment and inventory data within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMMS) Maximo to support accurate planning and reporting
  • Handle Inventory Action Requests in Maximo to process additions and changes to parts and materials
  • Perform inventory analysis for the shovel and drill fleets to support effective maintenance planning
  • Participate in process development for non-standard items stored outside the warehouse and for parts returns from field to inventory
  • Support planners in creating and maintaining work orders and job plans for mobile equipment repairs
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to gather maintenance information and support effective repair planning
  • Assist in collecting and incorporating feedback from maintenance execution into future planning
  • Support reporting and data visualization efforts using Excel and Power BI

Qualifications

 

  • Currently pursing an undergraduate degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering
  • Strong interest in maintenance planning, asset management, or mobile equipment operations in a heavy industrial setting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Power BI and data visualization tools is an asset
  • Basic Knowledge or experience with CMMMS such as Maximo is preferred
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and operational teams
  • Self-motivated, adaptable and capable of handling multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Previous experience in a mining or industrial environment is considered an asset
  • Comfortable working in both office and field settings, including exposure to active mine sites

Pay Range:

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
