Water Corporation is hiring a permanent Corporate Security Specialist to join the Risk & Assurance team in Leederville, WA. You’ll provide expert advice on public safety, critical infrastructure, and security design, help ensure compliance with the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018, and lead investigations into employee matters. The ideal candidate has a degree in engineering or security, extensive experience with large-scale assets, and a proven ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical design guidance. Currently, we have a permanent opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven professional to join the Risk & Assurance Business Unit as a Corporate Security – Specialist.

About the role:

As a key member of the Finance Group team, you will provide advice on public safety, critical infrastructure and security design requirements, as well as technical guidance on the Corporation’s design and delivery processes to ensure the efficient delivery of fit-for-purpose assets.

This position also supports the Manager Corporate Security in relation to the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018 and the WA State Government Countering Foreign Interference Framework, as well as providing security advice and conducting investigations into matters relating to employees.

What you can expect with this role

• Guide the Corporation to ensure it meets its public safety physical security obligations from the Occupiers Liability Act 1985, the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018 and security standards, through high quality advice to internal customers, external suppliers, service agencies, consultants, industry regulators and agencies.
• Undertake special investigations as appropriate
• Lead and collaborate with Operations Group, Assets Planning & Delivery Group and Customer & Community Group for public safety and physical security advice for matters relating to Corporation statewide assets and staff
• Lead engagements with internal customers, external suppliers, service agencies, consultants, industry regulators and agencies to provide specialist public safety and physical security advice for infrastructure design, maintenance and operation
• Manage the technical advice for public safety and physical security standard - DS62 Site Security Public Safety and Emergency Treatment and other relevant Corporation, public safety, critical infrastructure and security standards and documents
• Provide expert public safety and physical security knowledge and technical guidance to Project Managers, Asset Manager, Design Managers, and Regions to ensure new assets meet relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, and corporate and security standards.

Your skills and experience

• Degree level qualification in engineering, security or equivalent.
• Substantial experience in critical infrastructure, security and public safety design, risk management
• Considerable experience providing specialist public safety, physical security or critical infrastructure advice within large-scale organisations with complex asset or operational environments.
• Considerable experience in the provision of specialist public safety and physical security management and risk assessments within complex, large scale infrastructure.
• Considerable experience in and ability to undertake special investigations
