Desjardins Group is seeking a Corporate Underwriting Advisor for Commercial Auto in Aurora, a full‑time onsite role that centers on applying underwriting policies, advising clients and partners, and leading cross‑functional projects. You will recommend changes to coverage and documentation, ensure smooth execution of mandates, spot opportunities to improve claims experience and operating costs, coach underwriters and agents, and collaborate with actuarial teams and Personal Lines. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of commercial auto underwriting across Ontario and other regions, FCIP or CIP, a bachelor’s degree, advanced English, and strong PCS Auto and MS Office skills. As a commercial auto corporate underwriting advisor, you help prevent, accept and reject risks based on established underwriting policies. You advise and assist clients and partners as part of intervention and development initiatives. You recommend solutions to improve or optimize standards, policies and programs. Your projects and initiatives require extensive knowledge of your line of work. You prepare recommendations, solutions and action plans based on the organization’s objectives and priorities. You help solve complex problems using your analytical skills and extensive knowledge of the line of business. Coordination is critical, so you frequently interact with stakeholders working in other fields. Interpersonal savvy is therefore essential. More specifically, you will be required to :
Recommend changes in terms of underwriting, insurance coverage, product offering, insurance documentation and adaptation of the system, including determining a scope, gather relevant information, analyze and interpret the results, identify and evaluate the various solutions.
Ensure efficient progress and execution of assigned mandates, taking into account priorities and the organization's project management practices.
Identify and promote beneficial opportunities in terms of claims experience, service quality, operating costs and growth.
Support and advise, as a resource person, partners in other areas of the organization, including actuarial department.
Maintain the best possible communication and close collaboration with colleagues in other regions and key partners, especially with Personal Lines for alignment and propose improvement in our processes.
Participate in the audit and quality control programs.
Develop documentation required by regulatory authorities for approval.
Represent Desjardins on external committees
Provide technical guidance and coaching to underwriters and agents and on internal committees to ensure consistent application of corporate guidelines and development.

What you bring to the table
Bachelor's degree in a related field
A minimum of five years of commercial automobile underwriting experience in auto for Ontario, Atlantic and Western Regions
Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
FCIP or CIP Designation
Advanced proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English -speaking partners, members and/or clients
Proficient using Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Advanced knowledge of PCS Auto system preferred
Advanced knowledge of Commercial Auto workflow and processes
Advanced knowledge of Personal Lines auto
