Zinfra is seeking an experienced Crew Leader or Leading Hand to join our Canberra team delivering underground utility and civil projects in the ACT. This hands-on leadership role has you guiding a 3 to 4 person crew on site, coordinating works, mentoring others and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You’ll plan daily activities, lead trenching, pipe laying, excavation and reinstatement, and liaise with field teams, schedulers and contractors. Requirements include HR licence, White Card, Traffic Management and Asbestos Awareness, plus proven civil construction or utilities experience and a strong safety focus. About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Crew Leader / Leading Hand to join our Canberra team, delivering underground utility and civil infrastructure projects across the ACT.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll work alongside a crew of 3–4, guiding day-to-day activities on site. You’ll play a key role in coordinating works, supporting your team, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities include

• Lead and coordinate crews on civil trenching and pipe laying works
• Work alongside the team on excavation, installation, and reinstatement
• Plan daily activities and ensure crews are set up for success
• Ensure all work meets safety, quality, and compliance requirements
• Liaise with field teams, schedulers, and contractors on site
• Mentor and support team members to build capability

Roster: Monday to Friday with ad-hoc weekend work as required.

 About You

•  Proven experience in civil construction, pipelaying, or utilities
• Experience leading or guiding crews (formal or informal leadership)
• Strong understanding of trenching, excavation, and underground works
• Current HR licence (required)
• Relevant tickets: White Card, Traffic Management, Asbestos Awareness
• A strong safety focus and ability to lead by example on site
