Mark43 is seeking a Manchester based Cybersecurity Specialist to own vulnerability and threat management on the ground, running end to end scans, prioritizing by risk, and coordinating with the wider security team across time zones, while also handling on-site IT support for the office. The role requires at least five years in cybersecurity with hands on vulnerability management and incident response, plus the ability to make sound autonomous decisions and participate in an on-call rotation. You should have Windows and networking skills, familiarity with vulnerability scanners, endpoint protection, and SIEM, and awareness of UK frameworks such as Cyber Essentials or ISO 27001. Eligibility for NPPV3 and SC clearance is required; visa sponsorship is not offered. Tailor your CV to show risk based prioritization, cross time zone collaboration, and clear leadership facing communication.
Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the country in which the role is being hired. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.
Mark43’s mission is to empower communities and their governments with new technologies that improve the safety and quality of life for all. We build powerful, scalable, and elegant software that sets a new standard for the tools upon which our first responders rely. Our users are diverse, and we are therefore committed to embracing diversity of thought and experience within our team.
We are looking for a Cybersecurity Specialist to join our team in Manchester. You will be the security decision-maker on the ground in our Manchester office, owning vulnerability and threat management for an environment where the stakes are real. The software we build supports first responders, so the systems you protect help keep communities safe. The unique challenge of this role is breadth with depth: you will run a serious vulnerability and threat program while being the trusted, on-site presence who keeps the office and its people running, often making the call on your own and coordinating with a wider Cybersecurity team across time zones.
What You’ll Do
If you were part of our team, here are some things you would have done last week:
What You’ll Need
We’re looking for a cybersecurity professional with a minimum of 5 years of experience, ideally with a strong focus on vulnerability and threat research and management. Because you will be the security decision-maker on the ground in Manchester, often working independently of the wider US-based team, we need someone who has already built the judgement that only comes with time in the field: knowing which vulnerabilities to escalate, how to run an incident calmly under pressure, and when to ask for help. Solid all-round IT support skills across Windows environments, networking, and common business tools matter too, since you will be the one keeping the office running. Familiarity with vulnerability scanners, endpoint protection, and SIEM tooling is important, and an awareness of UK data protection requirements and frameworks such as Cyber Essentials or ISO 27001 is a welcome bonus. You should also be comfortable joining an on-call rota and collaborating across time zones.
Security Clearance
Given the sensitive nature of the work we do and the law enforcement agencies we serve, the successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain NPPV3 (Non-Police Personnel Vetting Level 3) and SC (Security Check) clearance. We will support you through the clearance process, but please note that an offer of employment is conditional upon successfully obtaining the required clearances. You must be eligible to apply — this typically requires a minimum of 5 years' recent UK residency. If you are unsure of your eligibility, we encourage you to raise this with us during the recruitment process.
People who thrive on our team also tend to share the following characteristics:
Our team is based in our Manchester, UK office, and this role is on-site there given the day-to-day IT support and the value of having security present in the building. Mark43 is a remote-friendly company with colleagues across the US and beyond, so you will collaborate closely with the wider Cybersecurity team across time zones, and you should be comfortable joining an on-call rota for critical issues outside of office hours.
We are offering a salary of £50,000 – £70,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to your base salary, you will be eligible for Mark43's benefits package, including private medical insurance, pension contributions, and equity participation.
