What Data @ Hive looks like

Data & Analytics at Hive powers the decisions that move our business forward. Embedded within Operations, the team transforms raw data into insights that drive performance, efficiency, and growth across every department.

We’re looking for a Data Analyst to take the reins as a team of one, owning our Snowflake, dbt, and Metabase stack end-to-end. You’ll inherit a strong reporting foundation and have the autonomy to level it up, reimagine what great internal analytics looks like, and embed data more deeply into how Hive operates every day.

What you’ll get up to:

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Partnering with leaders across Hive to understand & document reporting requirements

  • Collaborating with our Data Engineer to ingest data and develop the models & analysis required to answer the business’ highest priority questions

  • Building, updating, troubleshooting and maintaining dashboards and reports

  • Presenting findings in a clear and concise manner to non-technical team members and stakeholders

  • Educating and training business stakeholders to interpret and action the insights provided

Ad-hoc analysis

  • Prioritizing and responding to incoming analytical requests from across Hive

  • Developing SQL queries and performing data analysis

Operational Support

  • Supporting internal operations team with some day-to-day tasks

The tech stack you’ll be working with:

  • Data warehouse: Snowflake

  • Ingestion: Airbyte

  • Orchestration: Dagster

  • Data modeling: dbt

  • BI tool: Metabase

What you have:

  • 4+ years of progressive experience in an analytical role

  • Intermediate SQL skills (e.g. window functions, CTEs, query optimization, joins)

  • Experience with or exposure to data modeling with SQL

  • Experience with dbt

  • Proficiency in data visualization and storytelling

  • Proven hands-on experience with analytical tools, being able to gather, analyze, identify and articulate insights from data

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • High attention to detail and able to work independently

  • Passion for data and analytics and the value of data-driven decision making

This is a remote role within Canada. As such, you must be legally entitled to work within Canada.

Nice to haves:

  • SaaS or subscription business analytics experience

  • Experience working at a company at a similar stage to Hive

  • Experience with Python

  • Experience with our data stack (dbt, Snowflake, Metabase)

Comp/Benefits Package

  • Meaningful salary + equity: The compensation range for this role is $80,000 to $110,000 CAD per year. This compensation range takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to job-related skills, experience and relevant training, and business and organizational needs. New team members typically start between $80,000 - $100,000, based on experience and alignment with the expectations outlined in this posting. This range reflects not just where you begin, but the growth we expect and invest in as you grow at Hive.
