Liebherr Group is hiring a Data Architect to drive the Enterprise Data Catalogue rollout across a landscape and lead initiatives spanning divisions. This is a full-time onsite role in Bulle, Switzerland with hybrid working. You will define the operating model, onboard new domains, monitor usage and data quality, and propose governance and adoption improvements while contributing to the global data architecture and documenting metadata models. Requirements include a degree in IT or related field and 5+ years in data architecture or governance with hands-on catalogue experience (Collibra or Alation qualifies); strong stakeholder management; SAP data model knowledge or knowledge graphs a plus; SQL and NoSQL; fluent English; travel readiness. Responsibilities:
- Drive the implementation, deployment, and Group-wide rollout of the Enterprise Data Catalogue across a complex, heterogeneous system landscape, driving adoption across business and IT teams.
- Own the catalogue in operation: maintain, administer, and continuously improve it once live, ensuring data remains accurate, complete, and up to date.
- Design and configure metadata ingestion, data classification, and data lineage across multiple data domains and source systems.
- Lead the catalogue as a cross-functional initiative spanning all Group divisions, coordinating stakeholders toward a shared outcome.
- Define and run the operating model for the catalogue - onboarding new domains and sources, managing releases and upgrades, and monitoring usage and data quality over time.
- Proactively propose improvements to catalogue structure, governance processes, and adoption strategy.
- Support the definition of data standards and contribute to the evolution of the global data architecture.
- Document and manage system-agnostic data definitions across multiple data domains.
- Create and maintain conceptual and logical data models following corporate templates, including LeanIX modelling and architectural documentation.
- Collaborate closely with Data Domain Architects and Business Representatives to ensure consistency and quality.
- Support the coordination and implementation of data governance initiatives and frameworks.
Competencies:
- A degree in Information Technology, Business Informatics, Data Management, or a related field.
- At least 5+ years of experience in data architecture or data governance, including hands-on implementation and operation of a data catalogue (e.g. Collibra, Alation, Atlan, Microsoft Purview, OpenMetadata, or DataHub).
- Proven experience managing complex, cross-functional projects across multiple divisions and stakeholder groups.
- Proven experience deploying, integrating, and running tooling in a complex, multi-source enterprise environment.
- Solid understanding of metadata management, data classification, and data lineage.
- Knowledge of data modelling techniques (conceptual, logical, physical) and data governance principles.
- A proactive, proposal-driven mindset, with proven experience of identifying gaps and driving improvements through to adoption.
- Strong stakeholder management and the ability to drive and sustain adoption across diverse business and IT teams.
- Knowledge of the SAP data model, knowledge graphs, or graph-based metadata models is a plus.
- Familiarity with LeanIX is preferred, or a strong willingness to learn.
- Broad knowledge of database systems (SQL and NoSQL) is a plus.
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or heavy equipment environments is a strong advantage.
- Fluent English required; German and French are a plus.
- Readiness for occasional travel.
