Microsoft is seeking a Datacenter Technician Apprentice for an on-site Marseille program within CO+I, designed to train you in the core infrastructure powering Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive and Azure. Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a CO+I DCT Apprentice, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform.

Responsibilities

This role is based on-site at our datacenter location in Marseille.
Remote or hybrid work is not available for this position.

  • Follow guidelines and work closely with experienced technicians to understand and comply with data center policies, procedures, and deadlines
  • Learn to read and understand Process Change Notifications (PCNs) and assess their impact on daily operations
  • Assist with preparing, installing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, replacing, and decommissioning network, storage, and server equipment with minimal business disruption
  • Complete assigned support tickets efficiently while developing familiarity with KPIs
  • Participate actively in daily safety briefings and comply with all safety and security protocols, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Help maintain a positive team environment through collaboration and effective handovers
  • Escalate technical, safety, or security incidents promptly
  • Complete all required training, including security and environmental health & safety (EHS) training
  • Handle routine physical demands such as lifting, climbing, and working in data center environments


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant technical qualification (e.g., electrical, mechanical, IT, or similar discipline)
  • Minimum of 18 years of age  
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware and components
  • Strong interest in IT infrastructure and datacenter technologies
  • Authorization to work in France (EU citizenship or valid residence permit with work authorization)
  • Proficiency in English with a good working level (written and spoken)

 

Program Eligibility (Apprentice Requirement)

This position is intended for students currently enrolled in a technical training or apprenticeship program aligned with datacenter operations.

 

Background Check Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements is required for this role. These requirements include:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: must be passed upon hire and renewed every two years

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar
  • Ability to perform frequent physical activity (standing, walking, lifting, working at height)
  • Strong communication skills across teams and stakeholders
  • Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills
  • Flexibility to work non-standard hours if required
