ClearPoint seeks a mid-level Full-Stack Data Engineer for a 12-month fixed-term role in Auckland, onsite with hybrid options, embedded with a client team to own end-to-end delivery for 2-3 data domains across the medallion lifecycle using Snowflake, Fivetran and dbt, with Terraform deployments and API integrations in a CI/CD workflow. You’ll thrive in daily stand-ups and PR reviews, communicating progress and blockers clearly. The ideal candidate has advanced SQL, strong data modelling with star and snowflake schemas, hands-on ETL/ELT with Fivetran and dbt, Git and CI/CD, and a collaborative mindset comfortable with ambiguity and high visibility. Nice to have Python and BI tooling familiarity. To apply, send CV and brief intro to [email protected]; NZ work eligibility required; equal opportunity employer. Tip: tailor your CV to demonstrate end-to-end ownership and client collaboration.

At ClearPoint, we're proud of the culture we've built - collaborative, curious, and high-performing. Our values aren't just words:

  • Respect and Care for People
  • Act with Integrity
  • Earn and Nurture Trust

You'll work with sharp, passionate people who take ownership, raise the bar, and genuinely enjoy what they do. Whether you're in Auckland, Wellington, or Christchurch, you'll be part of a team that invests in your growth and makes space for you to shine.

The Role

We are looking for a skilled Mid-Level Full-Stack Data Engineer to join ClearPoint on a fixed-term basis (12 months), embedded within one of our key client environments.

This isn't a background support role. You'll take genuine ownership of end-to-end data domain delivery, working within an established platform and contributing to a fast-moving, high-visibility environment. You'll be integrated closely with the client's internal team, operating with a high degree of transparency and a clear focus on executing established delivery patterns with quality and consistency.

What you'll be doing

  • Domain Ownership: Independently own the end-to-end delivery for 2-3 bounded data domains across the full medallion lifecycle - Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Reporting layers.
  • Pipeline Development & Maintenance: Build, extend, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Fivetran and dbt, working from clear specifications and following established frameworks.
  • Infrastructure & Deployment: Work within an existing Terraform-based schema change deployment framework, making modifications confidently while knowing when to escalate.
  • API Integration: Integrate REST/SaaS APIs into the Bronze data layer, following existing documentation and patterns within an established CI/CD workflow.
  • Collaboration & Visibility: Participate in daily stand-ups, PR reviews, and regular check-ins, maintaining clear and proactive communication on progress and blockers.

What you'll bring

  • Snowflake & Medallion Architecture: Functional, working competence in Snowflake and a solid understanding of medallion/lakehouse architecture principles.
  • SQL & Data Modelling: Advanced SQL skills are a must, along with a strong working knowledge of star/snowflake schemas and medallion layering mechanics.
  • ETL/ELT Experience: Hands-on experience with Fivetran and dbt, with the ability to build pipelines confidently from specs and extend existing data models.
  • Git & CI/CD Proficiency: Comfortable working within established Git workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
  • The Right Mindset: You're a collaborative, hungry professional who is comfortable with ambiguity, high visibility, and pushing work across the finish line. You execute well within established patterns rather than looking to reinvent them.

Nice to Have

  • Python scripting ability (reading and modifying existing scripts or lightweight pipelines)
  • General familiarity with modern BI tooling and producing clean, presentation-ready Gold-layer outputs

What makes an ideal candidate?

You're a solid mid-level practitioner who takes pride in clean delivery. You don't need to over-engineer - you need to execute well, communicate proactively, and work seamlessly as part of a collaborative team. You're comfortable being embedded in a client environment, working with a high level of transparency, and flagging blockers early rather than going quiet.

You thrive in structured environments with clear specs, and you bring the kind of reliable, consistent output that builds trust quickly.

What's on Offer

  • Complex, high-impact projects that push you technically - there's always something interesting on the go
  • Competitive remuneration, health insurance, subsidised gym, barista coffee, wellness workshops, and more
  • Flexible/remote working - we trust you to get the job done wherever you do your best work
  • Annual training budget + access to AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft, and Salesforce learning resources
  • BYOD allowance, phone allowance, and access to whatever tech you need to do great work
  • Award-winning culture - AWS Social Impact Partner of the Year, CIO 50 Award recipient

Interested?

If you're passionate about data engineering, love solving complex problems, and want to make a meaningful impact, we want to hear from you!

Location: Auckland, hybrid Type: Fixed Term - 12 Months
