LayerZero Labs is seeking a Data Engineer in Vancouver onsite to design and operate the data fabric behind cross-chain products like Stargate. You’ll own batch and real-time pipelines, apply dimensional modelling, and build analytics-ready datasets using Snowflake, Postgres, Airflow, AWS, Docker and CDK, collaborating with product, analytics, and engineering teams to expose data via APIs and dashboards in Hex. You need 5+ years of experience, strong SQL, Python or Go, and comfort shaping data strategy in a fast moving Web3 environment. To apply, tailor your resume to highlight pipeline improvements, real-time streaming, API design, and cost efficiency; include links to dashboards or projects and show curiosity about Web3.

LayerZero

The Future is Cross-Chain.

Founded in 2021, LayerZero’s vision is to create a community of cross-chain developers, building dApps that are no longer constrained by individual blockchain capabilities. With LayerZero's simple, generic messaging protocol, builders will develop cross-chain dApps designed to unify the power of individual blockchains.

We have built and launched the first dApp, Stargate, a fully composable native asset bridge that will allow users to swap one asset to another securely and without additional fees.

We are funded by the best investors in the world including; more to come!

ABOUT THE ROLE

LayerZero is building the future of omnichain interoperability, and data sits at the center of everything we do. Our protocol and products generate massive volumes of on-chain and off-chain data that power business decisions, developer tools, real-time monitoring, and user experiences across Web3.

As a Data Engineer, you’ll design, build, and operate the data infrastructure that makes this data reliable, scalable, and accessible. You’ll work across batch and real-time systems, partner closely with product, engineering, and analytics teams, and help shape how data is used across a rapidly growing blockchain ecosystem.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Design, implement, and maintain reliable batch and real-time data pipelines processing blockchain, system, and third-party data
  • Apply dimensional data modelling (Kimball or similar) and SQL best practices to create high-performance, analytics- and API-ready datasets
  • Build and scale data infrastructure using tools like Snowflake, Postgres, Airflow, AWS (CDK), Docker, and ECS
  • Partner with analysts, engineers, and product teams to make complex data accessible via APIs, dashboards, and BI tools such as Hex
  • Ensure data quality through monitoring, testing, validation, and clear documentation
  • Optimize pipelines, queries, and infrastructure for performance, cost, and reliability
  • Contribute to both batch processing and real-time streaming systems across a modern Web3 data stack

WHO YOU ARE

Required

  • 5+ years of experience building scalable data systems as a data engineer or in a similar role
  • Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with dimensional data modelling
  • Experience with modern data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, or similar)
  • Proficiency in Python or Go for pipeline and data system development
  • Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Airflow
  • Experience deploying and operating data systems in AWS and containerized environments
  • Comfortable performing and communicating strategic data analysis, and influencing data strategy
  • Curious about Web3 and excited to tackle novel data challenges in a fast-moving environment

Nice to have

  • Experience with real-time or streaming data pipelines
  • Exposure to blockchain data and Web3 technologies
  • Experience designing and operating APIs
  • Infrastructure-as-code experience (CDK, Terraform, or similar)
