The Role

The Decorator Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining our decorators at our Can Manufacturing facility in Wiri, South Auckland. This is a 6-month fixed-term position, with the potential for extension based on performance.

The successful candidate must be willing to work a rotating 12-hour shift pattern as part of a continuous 7-day operation. The roster follows a four days on, four days off cycle (applied for approximately six months of the year): two day shifts from 7:00am to 7:00pm, followed by two night shifts from 7:00pm to 7:00am, then four days off. Overtime opportunities are readily available and paid at premium rates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain Concord decorators to meet onsite production and quality targets
  • Execute machine setups, adjustments and changeovers in line with customer specifications
  • Troubleshoot equipment faults and implement corrective actions as required
  • Proactively resolve issues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Conduct regular inspections, cleaning and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal performance and minimise downtime
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to strict food safety standards and procedures at all times
  • Read, understand and follow SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to achieve production goals and support continuous improvement efforts

About You

  • 5+ years' experience as a Machine Operator in a high-speed manufacturing environment, with previous printing experience
  • Can-making experience is essential
  • Strong attention to detail with a customer-focused mindset
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Demonstrated focus on quality outcomes and continuous improvement
  • Strong commitment to safe work practices and compliance
  • Sound mechanical aptitude and problem-solving capability
