Service Deli Assistant at New World Ilam in Christchurch is a full-time onsite role in a large, supportive deli team focused on sandwich making and savoury product production, delivering excellent customer service, preparing fresh deli foods, maintaining stock and presentation standards, and following Food Safety and Health and Safety procedures while keeping the department clean. Service Deli Assistant – New World Ilam

We’re looking for a motivated, energetic foodie to join our fantastic Service Deli team at New World Ilam. If you’re passionate about great food, love working with people, and thrive in a busy environment, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

You’ll be joining a large, supportive deli team dedicated to producing high‑quality products and delivering outstanding customer service. We’re after someone who’s ready to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in. This role will be focused on sandwich making and production of savoury products. 

Key Responsibilities

• Delivering excellent customer service to our valued customers
• Preparing, producing, and presenting fresh deli foods
• Maintaining stock levels and high presentation standards
• Following all Food Safety and Health & Safety procedures, including temperature checks and cleaning records
• Ensuring the Deli department is kept clean and tidy

What We’re Looking For

• A strong work ethic and positive attitude
• Good listening and communication skills
• Ability to work well in a fast‑paced team environment
• Previous food preparation experience (advantageous but not essential)
• Commitment to great customer service
• Self‑motivation and the ability to work independently
• Physically fit, with the ability to lift heavy items when required

Hours

• This is a permanent role working Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday 7am-3.30pm (32 hours).
